Re: america is getting cut out of the internet
Politics are living organisms. You can't have more than two people and not have a living, breathing political animal. It's how we decide our moralities and treaties with each other. To state otherwise is beyond foolishness. It's just plain ignorance, and not the blissful kind, either.
The ending of Net Neutrality is kind of like Brexit... a lot of shit is going to be slung around, and talks made, and in the end, it may never actually happen. Or if it does happen, a thousand new laws will be enacted in such a way as to make it all a show of "look how important we are by doing nothing important!" Meanwhile, nothing actually ends up changing, there's just an appearance of change.

The end of Net Neutrality is kind of like Parisexit. People will say the world will end in 5 years due to global cooling, oops warming, oops, CLIMATE CHANGE, lot of shit will be flung around (LOOK, SEE THIS POLAR BEAR THAT IS SKINNY??? ITS TRUMP'S FAULT BECAUSE HE HASNT SIGNED THE PARIS DEAL!!), and in the end, sooner or later, people will know that once again the USA dodged yet another bullet that would kill free trade and strangle its economy.MagicManICT wrote:The ending of Net Neutrality is kind of like Brexit...

Free trade isn't the be all and end all of an economic system. What it does is make a few very rich, a few more wealthy, and leave everyone else behind. It's a far cry better than other economic systems that humanity has come up with in the past, so don't get me wrong here. It's just not the end game in economic development. (The end game being that money becomes a thing of the past.) We need to be thinking about the next step now, not in the not so distant future when the country has imploded from total economic collapse. So you're either a giant troll, or you really don't have the knowledge to fully understand the ramifications of your statements. Hell, I don't fully understand it beyond an ability to make wise investments.drakesaint wrote: the USA dodged yet another bullet that would kill free trade and strangle its economy.
Just to note, government regulations come up out of necessity, not out of someone's desire to interfere in the proceedings of normal people's every day life. You might say "but what about <insert overbearing government regulation here>," and I say that someone thought it was a good and proper fix for the problem they were having. Maybe it was good for the time, but in hindsight it was a bad decision. Until we live in a world where people are willing to cooperate with each other and not screw over the guy next to them to get one up, we need government regulation to keep the playing field fair.
Not to change the subject, but... Nobody said the world would end from climate change. What's going to happen will be cities like Miami and NYC turning into another Venice*. Venice will likely fall completely into the the Adriatic before its time (it's destined to go this way, anyway, over time as plate tectonics shift and the soil the city is built on erodes with time). We've gone beyond the point of no return already, and the Paris treaty is to try to keep it from turning truly apocalyptic. And while Trump might have thumbed his nose at the whole thing, individual corporations are upholding it, as well as individual consumers. You don't really need to have government regulation to do what is right. It just helps to get the asshats in line that refuse to acknowledge the fact they have ass cancer and need to get it fixed. In this case, the result is major worldwide catastrophe vs just one person dying.

Ending money is just more power to banking. Banking heavily supports globalism. If this is your end game, I'm really sorry about your offspring having to be educated by such a misinformed ancestor like you are.MagicManICT wrote:Free trade isn't the be all and end all of an economic system. You don't know wise investments because you can't think over the basic statement "more government regulation kills market trade".We need to be thinking about the next step now, not in the not so distant future when the country has imploded from total economic collapse. So you're either a giant troll, or you really don't have the knowledge to fully understand the ramifications of your statements. Gov regulations come out of more taxation necessity. Govt creates problems to create the solution, which is always, more tax, more responsabilities to itself to justify more tax or justifications of its current structure. The only goal of government is to interfere as much as possible in everyday's life and create more ways to interfere.Just to note, government regulations come up out of necessity, not out of someone's desire to interfere in the proceedings of normal people's every day life.
Which is a huge majority of the regulationsYou might say "but what about <insert overbearing government regulation here>,"
And this is where your whole mind is situated; under the "good intentions" field where every naive kid that has never faced the world to know how it truly works. If everything you said was true, governments would be abolishing bad laws in a blink of an eye. There are a huge amount of laws in every country which are complete bullcrap, but bureaucrats don't want to get rid of them, because less government means less justifications to keep them there. I bet you also think the EU is a good thing and that we should all be electing a world leader.and I say that someone thought it was a good and proper fix for the problem they were having. Maybe it was good for the time, but in hindsight it was a bad decision. Oh its not global cooling from the 50's, not global warming from the 90's, but CLIMATE CHANGE from current year + 2? Good to know you're using the correct terminologies issued by the bureaucrats, don't want to slip there =)Not to change the subject, but... Nobody said the world would end from climate change.
Quit watching Al Gore movies. What's going to happen will be cities like Miami and NYC turning into another Venice*. YES! YES! LET'S MAKE A HUGE BONFIRE OF MONEY FROM ALL THE TRILLIONS OF DOLLARS OF STUPID TAXPAYERS TO REDUCE ONE QUARTER OF A CELSIUS DEGREE IN THE NEXT FORTY YEARS TO SAVE THE WORLD!!!We've gone beyond the point of no return already, and the Paris treaty is to try to keep it from turning truly apocalyptic.
Yes sir, so please don't have children, pets and quit eating meat so you can reduce your carbon footprint for a Better Future. Did you take you soymilk today? Good, don't forget your delicious tofu. And while Trump might have thumbed his nose at the whole thing, individual corporations are upholding it, as well as individual consumers. Net neutrality is there to protect new people entering the market against giants like youtube and facebook. So you're kind of contradicting yourself.drakesaint wrote: and in the end, sooner or later, people will know that once again the USA dodged yet another bullet that would kill free trade and strangle its economy.
If you want a fair, free economy, there needs to be regulations that ensure that everyone who wants to sell a product have the same terms as anyone else. You want to make a new cool video chat program? Too bad, skype will run lag free and much better because you cant afford to pay the INTERNET PROVIDING companies the same fees that skype pay them.
The repeal won't touch facebook/youtube/netflix, they will work as always, but new fish will have some serious problems competing with these.
I thought that one of the virtues of USA was the free market, but it seems that the government are just making batshit insane decisions without taking people's opinions into account.

Have you even read the net neutrality act? Why do you keep repeating propaganda sentences like they mean anything? What exact measure is there to 'protect' people?svino wrote:Net neutrality is there to protect new people entering the market against giants like youtube and facebook. There isn't. Net neutrality is a fancy and cool term for more regulations. More regulations = less conditions for new entry in the market. If you want a fair, free economy, there needs to be regulations that ensure that everyone who wants to sell a product have the same terms as anyone else.
Under your same example, I'll be less able to make a new internet providing company because there'll be more barriers of entry. What was repealled is simply that we go back to how things were a few years ago. You didn't had this doomsday scenario people keep selling you.You want to make a new cool video chat program? Too bad, skype will run lag free and much better because you cant afford to pay the INTERNET PROVIDING companies the same fees that skype pay them.
The repeal will make things easier for new facebooks/youtubes/netflixes.The repeal won't touch facebook/youtube/netflix, they will work as always, but new fish will have some serious problems competing with these.
For the first time in decades, you have a head of state that is boosting the economy by making simple decisions that ensure a free market. Yet the same stupid brainwashed zombies keep repeating mantras sold to them by multinational organizations.I thought that one of the virtues of USA was the free market, but it seems that the government are just making batshit insane decisions without taking people's opinions into account.

Long for power (and wealth, which basically gives you power) has always been one of the central objectives.sMartins wrote: Right now in the odiern era, the tecnique era, it's not anymore like that, politics are driven by finance, and finance is driven by tecnique.
