I don't see how con/agi effecting stamina would make newbies any easier to kill than they are already for somebody who really wanted to kill them.

Considering the current pvp-stamina problems are the same deal (Using water to just be able to run away, more water, farther you run) this doesn't really introduce more problems except that you can do both and the general chase lasts a bit longer, that's about it.

If the player is new he's probably not going to have anywhere to run to and likely will have been killed before he even realized he should run.

There are so many situational factors, you don't plan for somebody to randomly run up and kill you so chances are he's going to have higher stamina than you anyway (you having been working on something), given that he knows his intentions better than you.

Investment always pays off. Highest investment in the right stats wins. It works both ways, a person could raise their agility and con up so high that they become near untouchable by attackers.

I'd rather play Progress Quest. Besides, if retreat is not an option, people will fight even less, and I believe you yourself said there's not enough PvP.
Yes. And 4 people who have put 100 hours each should match that 400 hours person too.
And who says that making it player skill oriented can only be achieved by adding layers of complexity? Chess has fairly simple rules, but it takes a lot of skill to play well. The current combat system is a step in the right direction, and it's miles above the old one, but it still puts way to much focus on skill values.
Now you fail to see that this is exactly what I proposed.
And don't take that tone with me, mister :x
Well stop inferring tone where there is none and it won't look like it.

And that.

Or, wait for it, let's make it impossible to drink while running, it seems rather obvious that it wasn't intended anyway. And don't let stats affect how much stamina you use. Imagine the consequences before you suggest something like that. New characters would need a ton more food making the game even more daunting at the beginning and old characters would become even bigger gods. I'd also mean mining alts become rather useless (and with mining being as dull as it is I'm not sure you want to make it even harder). And it's a good way for characters to create hunger. So someone who didn't raise that stat at all would raise his other stats much faster.

That seems fair enough.

I can concede to this argument. Consumption rates need not be affected. I would agree the newer characters would benefit from a lower metabolism if anything.
I'd also mean mining alts become rather useless (and with mining being as dull as it is I'm not sure you want to make it even harder).
I don't think that's such a bad thing although I do agree mining could stand to be somewhat automated.
And it's a good way for characters to create hunger. So someone who didn't raise that stat at all would raise his other stats much faster.

Now here's somethign to consider, AGI causing a higher metabolism (more rapid consumption) and Con causing more capacity.

To be fair, that idea doesn't really appeal to me but something that might is one stat that lower metabolism by being raised and another that accelerates it so that a character with balanced stats has the same consumption rates as a noob but imbaing can have benefits and those benefits would be a matter of rates and play style and not a min/maxing deal.

Of course..I don't think a metabolism slider would be so polar either.

I'd assume mining wasn't meant solely for 'mining alts', mining was one of the first things I had in mind for this, it would complement it well.

It wouldn't limit people who want the mine alt, they'd be the same as they are now, however if they wanted to be better, they could.

The fact that there is no room for improvement in stamina is what bothers me, there needs to be some form of increasing said stats, even if it takes 1,000 CON to get +50% Stamina.

I expect it as the norm in this game that even if I have to work hard for something I 'can' get there with effort. So if I want +100% Stamina, it'll take me 2,000+ CON sure, but the fact that I 'CAN' do it is what matters.
