Do we really want the game to be a mess of hidden mechanics and special cases that you have to memorize by heart (even though they're totally undocumented) to avoid getting your shit wrecked while you're offline? We already have Salem for that.

Sure it should be fixed, but I think it's incredibly difficult to predict how players will interact with the mechanics as they are implemented.
Both parties fucked up. Didn't they? Honestly. Exploits and negligence. Just one party profited and the other lost everything.

If it's considered an exploit, then there needs to be something done for players who find and abuse exploits- and further never bother to report. We can't be inconsistent in how we deal with bug abuse and exploits- we should find a way to more heavily encourage bug reporting, and in general keep the looming threat of punishment for anyone who abuses them (especially when they never report it)Jalpha wrote:Sure it should be fixed, but I think it's incredibly difficult to predict how players will interact with the mechanics as they are implemented.

If it's not considered an exploit, I don't really care anymore- although it certainly should be patched out.

I find the argument below very on point on countering yoursChildhoodObesity wrote:how can you argue "not convenient for village" lol, if ur using it tick it on and if not tick it off or simply close ur gates so people cant see ur charterstone name, if dis did it we wouldnt be screaming nuke because its not even a bug xDDD i dont even tihnk u guys shud be nuked for making ur village pretty much invincible no matter how gay it is, the chair walljump isnt even comparable to what we did

This is fun to see how people who insisted on "Wipe Dis for abusing" 8 months ago now attempt to excuses themselves for same abuse.

If they dont want to report the bug because they feel a cape isnt enough they can keep the secret for themselves. Eventually some good willing one will do it. The fear of the law should be enough to avoid this kind of situations. If someone abuse a bug to get a profit destroying other peoples properties and gameplay they should feel the God's wrath. Thats enough in a permadeath game to avoid this acts. If Dis was punished for geting inside other peoples villages with non intended mechanics this people should be punished in the same way. Punishing some people and not others is a sign of weakness and a door for this to happen again.

Re: Rl’yeh is sinking, hasn’t reached the bottom yet
This I agree with. I think at the heart of it the community doesn't really see itself as alpha testers. Furthermore this game doesn't really classify as an alpha. As far as I'm concerned it has reached a point where it can only be classified as a beta. I digress. The point I'm trying to make is that what is different from other beta tests I've participated in is the community and its perceptions of itself. I've never been in a beta where the testers expected a reward for reporting before. Then again what reward could be greater than conquering an opponent in a game like this?Archiplex wrote: We should find a way to more heavily encourage bug reporting-
Not that the devs are free from onus. Whether true or not it's been said in the past that they are somewhat tardy in regard to fixing exploits even when they have been reported.
This part though I'm not sold on, but the decision isn't up to me.Archiplex wrote:and in general keep the looming threat of punishment for anyone who abuses them (especially when they never report it)

I'd rather see victims marginally compensated than new craters in the landscape. If I had to choose.pedorlee wrote: The fear of the law should be enough to avoid this kind of situations. Here its when the principle of proporcionality of the punishment makes its aperance. While wall jumping was a flagrant and obvious bug abuse, this one looks less grave but this doesnt mean it shouldnt be punished.Jalpha wrote:I'd rather see victims marginally compensated than new craters in the landscape. Obviously they got in with a non pretended mechanic and they need to pay for that. They got profit when they could have reported it before or at least ask to Jorb if it was an intended mechanic or legal one.
As i sayd, not punishing it will state a dangerous precedent and instability in the legitimate expectations of present and future costumers.

Yeah, at first I didn't understand your last quote of me but I agree, and while I don't think it should be a nuke persay, there definitely needs to be SOME form of punishment- whatever jorb thinks is necessary. (Conversely, since they did compensate the village CORE raided, I'd wonder if he wants to keep that sort of act as well)
I don't know what a 'fitting' punishment would be, but if this situation is treated as a bug abuse, then it wouldn't be right to simply let them go without punishment.
