Re: IRC Capable Client
I've only ever used git, and that was purely out of need =v
If you could guide me towards making a cvs or mercurial repository I would be thankful. It would of course need to have no issues with letting me use git to fetch from loftar's code and handling conflicts with diffmerge. I'd basically only use it to push my code.
Also, github is being an ass in getting single files from its site too, git works fine, but the site fucks up somehow =[ I'm not talking binaries, just regular old java files =|

Re: IRC Capable Client
from what I've read mercurial is quite easy to use.
1 - Go to the google code link I had above
2 - Log on to your google account (if you aren't already)
3 - Create a new project, select mercurial as the VCS
4 - Navigate the google project web site to get your VCS address (it'll be in the admin section I think)
5 - download mercurial from http://mercurial.selenic.com/
6 - Follow the instructions on the web site but clone from the address you got from google code
7 - program away, check in, push
8 - Come back here and post us a url
If you want to try something really cool, check out http://hg-git.github.com/ which should allow you to pull from loftar's git repo, into your local mercurial repo, and then push into your google code repo

Re: IRC Capable Client
is there any chance of you being able to give your client a command that will highlight decayed objects with something like blue? I'm partially colourblind and so when wooden items decay, i really can't tell what decay state they are in or if they even are, it isn't half a pain when trying to repair my wall.

Re: IRC Capable Client
If I can find out where the code is to highlight items, I can probably make it toggleable.
It will probably bring down performance down quite a bit while its on though.

From my experience, yeah; mercurial is quite easy to use, especially when compared to crap like SVN.theTrav wrote:from what I've read mercurial is quite easy to use.
Git, however, is even easier, and better, faster *and* better.
I did a lot of reading before, comparing the two, and got the impression that while git
was more flexible and powerful (without doubt), hg was supposedly more user friendly,
but I found that to just not be true. Git was superior in every way. Not by *much*, though.
I didn't get a headache every time I was forced to use it, as I did with SVN (until I found git-svn ¦D).
Btw, http://bitbucket.org/ is the hg equivalent to http://github.com/.

Though, unlike scents, I don't think its something people would leave on for very long.Pacho wrote:If I can find out where the code is to highlight items, I can probably make it toggleable.

Re: IRC Capable Client
joy! Trying to switch from the git repository to a mercurial repository ate all my source files (and only the source files). I dont' feel like messing with this anymore, its been nothing but headaches left and right. Git seems to think that there is nothing wrong with having ALL THE FILES MISSING and keeps insisting that everything is fine, so I'd be left with having to delete the whole repository and recloning it, I'm not inclined to do that so I'm not going to touch this for who knows how long.
