Re: Healing injuries
10 survival will help you get a lot more LP than most of the skills you can buy.

Clovers are very common once you reach the point where you can see them.Serpensio wrote:[Oh, I'm sorry, my perception x Exploration isn't quite 144 yet. And I don't live on a Grassland, Heath or Moor so I'd rather not spend all my time searching around hoping the Random Number God will grant me a Clover Spawn AND a Herd of Sheep in a reasonable amount of time.
So you deliberately fucking ignore the readme and then wonder why you have problemsSerpensio wrote:As I said, I spend my newbie LP on Skills, not stats, and I'll bet most other non-metagaming newbies do the same. Don't expect a newbie with no prior experience playing to spend their first hour working just to see Clover so they can potentially recover from a possible HHP wound they haven't gotten yet.
So please don't try to insult me without knowing anything about me. Thanks. ;)
also, totally overlooking the possibility of trading with a neighbor for some clover/wool/gauze.

Re: Healing injuries
Oh, you meant THAT readme? You scared me, I thought you were talking about a readme I hadn't read.
Nowhere in that readme does it say "raise Exploration to 12 so you can see Clover which is required to shear wild sheep for wool which you'll need to make a bandage, because there are no alternatives for healing besides Leeches which SUCK at quality 10 for healing large amounts of HHP damage. Oh and BTW, you should get wool and clover anyway, even if you're not injured, and have no use for wool yet."
And BTW, where did you ever see me complaining? I was simply stating my situation. I suppose I'm posting in a game forum asking for something to be changed which you don't agree with so that must mean I'm complaining?

You honestly thought I meant getting every skill possible? Obviously I disregarded most of the ones that were not applicable to my situation, and the ones that were rather expensive. I've yet to get Rage, Trespassing or Vandalism on any of my characters, and Ranging and Yeomanry are difficult.Potjeh wrote:Getting all the skills before raising exploration, survival and marksmanship is a lousy way to build your character, hth. I mean, do you honestly need metal working or sausage making when you're nowhere near having metal?

Yes, but I bet you bought Mining, Pšrospecting, Metal Woking, Oxcarting, Roadbuilding and a dozen other skills you won't use till much later. It's not the game's fault you're playing it wrong.

Hah. How wrong you are...Potjeh wrote:Yes, but I bet you bought Mining, Pšrospecting, Metal Woking, Oxcarting, Roadbuilding and a dozen other skills you won't use till much later. It's not the game's fault you're playing it wrong.
Seriously, you're only making yourself look like a fool when you keep trying to tell me what I did or did not do while having no knowledge whatsoever about how I actually play except for a couple statements.
Just because you disagree, doesn't make me stupid.
Just so you are no longer ignorant, the skills I regularly train on a new character are:
Hunting, Foraging, Fishing, Hearth Magic, Lumberjacking, Marksmanship, Carpentry, Plant Lore, Stone Working, Wheelmaking, Boatbuilding, and Farming. Unarmed Training, Brawling and Militia training I occasionally pick up, I stopped learning First Aid once i realized it was pointless without Wool, and the rest of the skills I hold off on while I raise Stats, or add as the situation arises where they could be of use.
Also, I don't grind LP mindlessly so I can raise everything super fast, forgive me to actually wanting to enjoy playing the game and building my settlements and exploring, instead of boring myself to tears trying to become super powerful super fast.

Re: Healing injuries
I see a lot of C&I posts that almost word for word go as follows:
"I'm not complaining, but this game is really hard. Can you make it easy so I can have more fun?"
1. The game is supposed to be hard. Dieing is part of being a hearthling.
2. Healing at low levels is also supposed to be hard. Enjoy the fact that you can equip 10 leechs and go about your bussiness farming while regaining HP, making progress towards that coveted clover. If this was indeed early civilization, you would get mauled by a fox on sight, they wouldnt wait for you to build signs around it, and you would die.
3. Have you tried eating con food, I think it raises your HHP.

Today is a good day to die.

Re: Healing injuries
do you think that a healing herb would be any easier to see than clover, one of the easiest herbs to see?Serpensio wrote:Oh, I'm sorry, my perception x Exploration isn't quite 144 yet. Newbs alone would have to gain 11960 LP, AT LEAST, just to have the possibility of finding a clover for the sole purpose of getting a wool for a bandage (Unless they're lucky enough to have enough Perception food to level perception to 14 (not to mention any LP they use on other skills or stats.) I know my first priority when starting a new character is attaining skills, not stats or FEPs.sabinati wrote:http://ringofbrodgar.com/wiki/FEP_TableSwindrum wrote:what is con food
how about a foragable plant that you can use on a wild sheep to get wool? http://ringofbrodgar.com/wiki/CloverSerpensio wrote:I've been bothered by this issue too. Easy-to-find Leeches heal too little to be of any use to a hermit. Wool is completely unattainable to a newbie starting out, and hard to get for anyone without an established village. And Con Food only helps a little, and does so slowly (I never even knew Con healed HHP until I read it here, and I've eaten a ton of it so far, I thought it only added to the "Max HP")
One thing I thought of to help is a Linen Bandage, which works similar to a wool one, only heals less overall.
A forage-able plant would be nice to have also, something which works like a Leech but occurs at higher qualities (then 10) more often.
So, what do we do now?

i usually fish and build a camp as i get the basic skills and level my exploration skill.Serpensio wrote:What do YOU do as a newbie? Except that it totally does. It specifically tells you to buy four starter skills and then raise Survival/Exploration so you can actually make use of those skills.Serpensio wrote:Oh, you meant THAT readme?
