if your hunting penned in aurochs or mouflon an your see an unknown player approaching your pen, book it. this early in the game, people want any advantage they can get and they have no qualms about pulling up one of the fence posts holding back the tide of wild cow flesh. just run, no dead auroch is worth that much trouble.

I got a great tip for you all, every time you go out foraging in your boat, before you head back, cut down a tree and take two logs back with you. Make a habit of it like i do.

It's not too risky if you don't go too far and if you head back to shore as soon as your stamina reaches 50%.
Hand plowing also works if your base is inland, but it's slower and you can't drink water unless you've got a well, which some of us don't have.

Plowing's about the same speed and if you're gonna be near the river you might as well be a bit safer about it.

Dont stock pile any thing you dont need very soon. keep valuables on alt vaults (even starting curios are good to vault so people around you dont come and steal them) if you aren't in a group try making your settlement away from rivers so you dont get ganked all day long.

Mining even one block is dangerous. Yes even if you are standing on natural cave floor. Don't do it when you don't have full hp. Mine enough ore just to get one bar. Smelt down to nuggets. Build mine supports asap and enjoy your metal.

Surely your boat is already filled with crates? No space for logs.

Never get out of your boat near people you don't know, chances are they will steal it

Also, if you're being chased, do not get out of your boat. You're 100% safer if you just keep moving. Once you stop they can bash your boat or swim into it. As long as you're moving, all they can really do is chase or attempt to sling you but at this point in the world that isn't exactly possible
