Beware of bats!

I begin to wander if all those badgers, bats and so on are not another time sink feature.
In last H&H, grinding quality was the time sink feature, but it was shortcut by bots so H&H2 is more about active playing.
Now time sink is random deaths and wayting for wonds to heal, not sure that it make the game more appealing.

How strong are bats? I mean, how big are their hits compared to other animals?

I imagine many people have settled in caves so it's punishment to have dropped this on them.

If anyone has a throwaway alt can you check if you can block the bats with logs of wood etc. Figuring that out might help significantly killing the bats if you have a group. Fence yourself in, aggro with the sword Attack and then just wait for them to come to you. Then just pew pew that murder machine to death.

From what I've seen in my cave, they generally avoid obstacles (palisade & a closed door can block their flight for sure)... might be worth trying some more combinations out -- logs like you suggested for instance.

Well bats certainly put players who weren't lucky enough to find coal and get metal at a disadvantage. Every cave I've been in had them before I could find any mineable walls.

Guess I'll have to scour the surface for boulders for awhile.
