Re: Dead immediately when energy reached 0%
Drowning used to kill you. IIRC, it was pussified for people getting caught in boats at server crashes. That was outside the player's control. Working yourself to death by not eating was your choice, Jag.

Re: Dead immediately when energy reached 0%
I'm in agreement with this one in that it should scale better. You should probably have starved yourself to death well before hitting 0. If you happen to hit 0, boom, you're dead, no 5s warning. Actually, it's longer than 5s because it's pretty easy to get up to 200 HHP.
And that whole "not eaten anything at work" analogy is crap. Closer approximation would be if you haven't eaten anything in a week and then are forced to go out and dig rocks in a labor camp. Will you be standing at the end of the day? maybe this one, maybe the next one, but unless you get enough food to rebuild energy reserves soon, you'll soon be dead.

See stamina as your immediately-available energy stores in your muscles and from stored glucose, it's quite easy to burn through that fast. When you run out and try to keep going, you do end up with muscle cramps. Energy is your longterm energy stores: your fatand muscle structure. Naturally, if you deplete those both, you would have (nearly) no fat or muscles left and would be in quite a life endangering situation.jaguar wrote:Okey, what do you think about swimming then? When stamina is 0 you should die, using your logic.shubla wrote: If you are starving You are currently suffering or dieing of starvation. This should be very self explanatory and mean that you will die very soon if you dont eat. Sudden death at 0% energy is predictable.
I mean, you're basically arguing against common sense here. The bar turns RED, the universal sign for danger. If you don't assume you are in danger at that point, in a game with permadeath, you've nominated yourself for a soon-to-be-won Darwin award.
I'd like to emphasize again it is RED after a long section of YELLOW, which stops SHP regen already.

I'd like some red energy bar too below 1000. Don't see the need to inflate my letters like a condom in sex ed class to agree with you though

And second teach what is SHP and HHP what they mean and what is their colors.
And don't post bullshit with big letters on public forum.

It's not bullshit. Might be a bit of a rant about this whole thread and stupidity, but definitely not BS.

SHP-- this is the red one, goes down quickly, heals on its own as log as your energy is up (3000). You go KO when it hits 0.
HHP--goes down if you take wounds. Can heal over time on its own, may need treatment. You die if it hits 0.

Re: Dead immediately when energy reached 0%
I'm confused. I used to have tons of starvation damage when I started out due to sticking at 800-1000% energy for too long. That was HHP damage, not SHP damage. As far as I'm aware, you take HHP damage starting immediately. Took a pretty long time to heal, too.

Though I agree OP's death is clearly his own fault, the indicator of starvation could be clearer. If nothing else, give a system message 'you are starving!' once you hit certain points (1000%, 500%, 200%, 100%, 50%, 10%, for example).
Except it turns brown/orange-ish, not red.g1real wrote: I mean, you're basically arguing against common sense here. The bar turns RED, the universal sign for danger. Re: Dead immediately when energy reached 0%
From talking to other players, I've seen that having this mechanic confuses some or most of them, at least at first because they may look at their Hunger Bar(the one that effects food FEPs) in the UI pop up window and think they aren't "starving" but their energy bar (the one next to the stamina bar) may actually be low in the red and killing them, and if you hover over it, it will say "starving". So it's basically two food bars that confuse new players, because the actual food FEP hunger bar in the pop up UI doesn't hurt your health when it is low (no way to know that besides testing it or asking), and having low energy isn't really something that should relate to starving as a game mechanic... and people don't normally associate having low energy with dying or starving. So basically to summarize, the whole thing is confusing people and getting them killed whereas if it was more understandable I don't think many would be dying from it.jorb wrote:Starving starts below 1000 energy points. Arguably it could warn you better, but, well.
It's not a bug under any circumstance.
The stamina bar is almost always what people think of as their energy bar. The other bar should be renamed hunger bar along with an appropriate food icon, then it will make sense when you are starving and taking damage, but there should also be some sort of warning or explanation about it for new players. Also, the food FEP hunger bar should be appropriately named as such in the pop up UI, and a short statement that says this hunger bar effects food points and not the health of your character.

Maybe make hitting starving an exp event as a form of notification.
