Why don't bears swim after you? I killed 2 bears in under 5 minutes. Too easy.

Hmmm? Are you being funny, or did you actually?

As much as you guys like to stroke your sense of superiority over others with trivial shit like this, in a game which features endless grinding AND permadeath, actual death should only be the end result of user mistake. Maybe if murdering monsters were contained to certain areas or only murdered if provoked, but as of right now it's nerve racking and tedious just to explore the world on foot as a new character. No one should ever lose all their time and work because a wild animal randomly spawned in front of them while they were looking for blueberries.

Seriously how does that make the game more fun at all?

No, fuck off, the world is dangerous.

Babies die every second because of no fault of their own.

How is it any fun when the wilderness isn't even challenging? It's been our stated opinion ever since world 1 that the game should have a much stronger survival aspect; especially in its early stages. Previously, the only danger one faced whatsoever was being knocked out, and that isn't actually any danger. It's still far too easy to survive, I think; it's more or less impossible to starve, for example. More or less the only way to die outside PvP used to be to be completely oblivious to the game mechanics; when one knew them, it was pretty much completely impossible to perish to the environment.

Haven is supposed to be a game, not a Lego. Also, more death would help to make ancestral worship more meaningful.

That's not to say that things in the other direction could be done as well, though (rather the opposite, so as to make the survival mechanics more fleshed out). For example, I've considered making fires and torches such that they keep wildlife away to some extent. That was never meaningful as long as the wildlife wasn't actually dangerous, though. It can also be argued that animal levels should be removed -- we've considered "freezing" the foxes to their current level 4, and boars to level 7. That way, they wouldn't deal lethal damage in one hit (making HHP more meaningful), and create a more reasonable "ramp" to PvE difficulty.

Ouch, just got murderized by boar... I gotta admit, while not such a bad idea, it makes for easy random death... not very cool.
