A friend of mine is trying to insist that because there aren't a hundred posts on the forums about it, there is no way to palisade around an enemy's claim to palisade them in a prison. I know that palisades take 24 hours to dry fully, but if you can manage to sneak one off wouldn't that just lock people in their base until they manage to destroy it?

Also: Do you lose the villager debuff when entering a building? Or do you keep it until leaving the village entirely?

it would eventually decay unless you repeatedly made the effort to repair all the damaged sections regularly

Nobody stops you from that. It's just more effort (in my opinion) for you to built a palisade around any base of a noticeable size than for them to build a wrecking ball and break it even after it is set (and almost no effort to hand-bash it before that).

Need to leave the claim that gave you the flag first.

As far as what can be done and what actually gets done... well, you can see people go through a lot of effort to grief others, but not THAT much effort as to build a second fence later. Too much can go wrong for the amount of effort expended.
