Re: Propose pay for cosmetic items instead of game time.
Had to quote this to say ALL depends on the game community! If the players are willing to help development, even by not getting anything in return they'll donate! Last UO server I played proves it, as there's no cash shop, no sub, it's 100% free, and you can DONATE, but donators don't get ANYTHING for donating, just a thank you from the server owners, and a forum tag indicating they've donated. There are even players PATRONS, who donate monthly to the server without getting anything in-game!Strandmullen wrote: You just proved your earlier argument wrong. Why buy a hat if the game is free?
It seems like you don't realize that Jorb and Loftar need to be able to live off of Haven. If the game was free and you were only able to spend money on hats, they would not earn enough money. Therefore the game must cost money to play so that Jorb and Loftar can afford developing it further.
And I can tell that, on a base of something arround 600-700 players, at least 200+ are donators there.
But, as I stated before, it all depends on the comunity willing to help the game development and upkeep! And haven is filled with childrens and teenagers who would not donate if not getting anything back! I'm not against the subs, just saying that your argument is not all truth
Anyways, I found out I have something arround 80 bucks to receive from government as payback from taxes, wich will allow me to buy at least 3 months of sub
_____
Edit because I remembered something
Search for shroud of the avatar, and look the prices for the pledges. There are pledges of 12,000.00 USD, and the one on 11,000.00 USD are already SOLD OUT! (yeah, some ppl gave 11 thousand dolars to support a game development). Ok, you get some cool things (mostly cosmetic) for that, but it's still 11 thousand dollars just to support a game dev!
So, again, saying almost nobody would buy cosmetics or donate just to support the game is not all truth. Maybe THIS game community will not, but, who knows...

Re: Propose pay for cosmetic items instead of game time.
They used to have a donate system but they were barely even making enough to update the game every once and awhile they were no where near being able to live off of the donate. I mean look at this thread people are outraged that they have to pay for the game. If there not even willing to pay 10$ a month there is no way there are going to donate the thousands of dollars needed to support jorb and loftar. Unfortunetly this is the best and the cheapest method of playing and also giving our 2 wonderful devs enough money to live on.

The lowest sub fee is nothing in comparison to how much time people can spend in this game in terms of bang for buck. The game is eternal alpha there's some things that I love snd some that I hate but I feel now after the rocky start launch it's worth it.
IMO.

Won't happen anytime soonfuinharlz wrote:And one last thing: I still support steam greenlight for haven!
Too many custom clients around for one ... Anyone joining through steam would be using the default client and they'd either wise up and switch, or they'd play long enough to leave a bad review and move on

Actually, considering steam workshop, most of steam public learned the best about modding and custom clients. Main problem is that haven is still a hardcore game with a hardcore community, but if RUST made to steam and have mostly good reviews, I think haven can live there! (rust community is one of the most toxic communitys I ever found, just losing to mortal online players).
Haven already have a LOT of content on it that no other game have or will ever get close. Giving it a try will not hurt anyone, and may attract a good playerbase to the game. (I myself attracted 5 new players just this weekend, and I'm not even good with publicity

Better suggestion, ask the devs there adress and send them that, 2/day/devs seems enough and geeks loves that.

What if they did it so you could purchase individual hours for people who don't wanna sub. Cause like my only hold back on subbing is I don't know if I'd pay enough to get my money's worth but if you let us buy individual hours then I feel like there would be slightly less rage
