I was wondering if that was something new added this world, made with a resource I hadn't discovered yet. I am disappointed now.shubla wrote:Townbells? Please get out of haven you salemite.

In honestly, I (and about 40% of the veterans) expected something like this would happen. In fact Neptjunoue did something similar but using the "border" claim as an XMPP detector (back when someone causing scents on your persinal claim will cause the game to message you on another message client allowing you to be aware of a threat even when offline).
Also in a sense it is starting to resemble the same concept behind building gauntlet hearthvaults in legacy. The concept is that you need to destroy a small section of a wall just to move forward before abandoning that ram to build another because a statue makes it impossible for the ram to proceed but allow you to to proceed. This kind of vault requires several rams and several days to break through if the culprit is unaware,

Abusing the new siege system in a similar fashion was discussed basically immediately after release. Donut villages with multiple layered walls protected by multiple different claim shields I believe is the heaviest abuse of it possible atm, though I have some theories about other possibilities.

This got me thinking actually, if I just have one village claim and I want to extend it several map grids in any direction won't that just mean someone can build catapults or rams further away from the main village and destroy structures where nobody can see causing damage to the entire shield? Kind of seems like a pretty big issue there preventing anyone from meaningfully extending their village claims and pushing them towards more exploity methods such as this or requiring each nearby resource they own to be individually claimed.

Yes, but you could banner far away, then cut of the banners in the middle if it really mattered. Generally making a new idol is just a better idea all together.Kaios wrote:This got me thinking actually, if I just have one village claim and I want to extend it several map grids in any direction won't that just mean someone can build catapults or rams further away from the main village and destroy structures where nobody can see causing damage to the entire shield? It's not an abuse they spent tons of time to build all the pali, claims, and set everything up it took a lot of time.
One quick fix that I can think of is to add HP and Regen to main village claim shield for every new banner and statue, make it so the amount of shield and regen equals if not better the current alternative or making hexagon vclaims.
Second way just simply shrink all vclaims default area by 1 tile off each sides, then make a minimum range to build vclaims near already existing one like pclaim. This will render the hexagon useless completely. (andalso ruin everyone else's day who built their pali on the vclaim area border).

I believe there are a lot of scenarios that both of us are thinking on the same wavelength. But I think you are more qualified than I am due to more experience (plus Stardew Valley got its mitts on me).rye130 wrote:Abusing the new siege system in a similar fashion was discussed basically immediately after release.
