1) Aiming speed recovery after moving should be nerfed dramatically.
2) Horse archery should be nerfed even more.
3) Wielding shields should deflect arrows fired frontally at you, especially at higher MC.

1. Nah, damage formulas need to be fixed, i would prefer arrows hitting more for weaker damage than "miss and die or shoot and kill" scenarios

It's more out of habit than anything I feel. We always talked about rolling a majority of archers at the beginning of the world after we saw how well archers fared at the end of w8. But I think people gravitate towards melee because you can feel the affect of your stats much more than as an archer. As an archer it's basically just making a fancy bow and arrows then watching a bar fill up and letting rip.

Also sparring as an archer is awkward as hell. So it's not as enjoyable there. Melee offers decks and a bit strategy as well.

With horse combat, well yes.

If you actually got close enough to the archer, from there all they can do is run and hope to create enough distance, then spam defenses and hope you have enough UA/Agi to survive enough to get somewhere safe. Once you're close, they can only run away at the same speed you can chase them, so creating distance becomes a matter of getting people stuck on props and objects.

most people choose their strategies based on what everyone else does rather than rational thinking
now when it's clear that bows are more efficient than melee everyone will start using them
me personally, i thought it's too risky to invest into something that is soon to get nerfed but apparently i was wrong
