I don't disagree but there is also more than one reason that they call them "gamble boxes."
Suffice to say that not every cash shop needs to be evil either. I thought Salem's was rather humane compared to others I've seen. Or take a look at Path of Exile's cash shop. This one almost exclusively sells fashion items.

I suppose, although I do detest the selling of silver and wouldn't agree with seeing the sale of any form of currency in a cash shop in Haven. I must admit that a large portion of my hatred towards anything cash shop related comes from having been playing ArcheAge since July, and if you're familiar with the game at all or have read any articles (recent or not so recent) you will understand what I mean by that.

I'm open to the idea of a F2P model with cosmetic cash shop but I feel that if there is a more appropriate avenue they can take, they should. Sandbox games, especially a game like Haven, should allow the crafting/creation/obtaining of any and every item to all players using in-game means, even if they are also obtainable through out-of-game means.

I reckon the devs will continue to take donations. Not because they don't want to make money or anything, but because they are the kind of people who appreciate expressions of gratitude more than payment of dues. Money is definitely worth more when it is given freely by people who can afford it, and the knowledge that those payments support those of us who cannot afford it benefits the giver and the receiver.

Add a general purpose "Bludgeon" attack, so we can hit people with the frying pan, traveller's sack, shovel, etc.

I'd be willing to bet that the payment model isn't going to change in any way anytime soon

I don't think it is likely, personally, not their style despite Salem(whether or not it was their choice in Salem)
jorb (and maybe loftar, too) have said they'd like to figure out a way to make some money off of Haven other than relying strictly on donations to keep everything going. How that will happen is anyone's guess. Current trends are there because the alternative is a subscription. (Or a system like Entropia Universe--$1 US = 10 PED, can be exchanged freely between PED and USD. So far it's the only company doing this.) So far, nobody has come up with anything better than the cash shop that I'm aware. Personally, I like the EU system, but that means almost everyone has to invest something to start unless you can meet the right person who feels friendly enough to provide the noob some startup funds.
Opinions expressed in this statement are the authors alone and in no way reflect on the game development values of the actual developers.

You can always put in option to color your gear the way you like with some kind of dyes or something and you hit 2 flies in one hit with endgame people looking different and being happy having their own looks that they desire. And thats just one thing, which doesn't give you OP stance over others who don't want to "invest" in such things. Second thing is to give items that don't give ingame boosts and are just for the looks, like dev capes are now. Like different hats, poles, sticks, etc. Maybe also different skins for random items, weapons. All of those i'm preety sure people would gladly invest a buck or two to make a simple yet positive change for their chars.
W16.1 - Pet Sematary (hermit)
W8 - Hermitage
W7 - Emerald City
W6 - Gomorrah
W5 - Pandemonium
W4 - Angkor
W3 - Angkor

As long as they continually add content i'll do it however. $14.99 a month, One time buy fee, cash shop. Whatever. hell, I'll send them a check for $1000.00 if they ban al Canadian I.P's.
