By the way, Jorb, why did you follow the same trend as with Salem to make the art so inconsistant? Haven looked pretty meh, sure, but the art was VERY consistant so once you got used to it, it was all fine and actualy looked great. But this inconsistency between sprites is really hurting on the eyes :/ Sure we'll get used to it, but it's a downgrade from haven in that sence. Consistency is just as important as quality.

What do you want to talk about? Talk away, by all means.chaosfire220 wrote:But by being so confrontational and refusing to talk to people
I do not mean to be confrontational. In my perception you're the one being confrontational.

I agree completely. I'm sorry that you don't feel I've succeeded in that. Any particular ones?Felkin wrote:Consistency is just as important as quality.

Re: Game Development: A Far Green Country
Imho, the major blunder with the whole p2p debacle is to not have said anything to the player base beforehand.
It came out of the blue and many people, me included, thought that it was just some elaborate prank.
There is nothing wrong with it, you've got every right to monetize your work. Of course, the details on how to do it and what to expect from it may or may not be agreeable by the userbase, but as far as the concept goes, it's all right.
Still, people had no reason to expect such a thing to happen - neither you or loftar ever said anything on that regard. Not even in those release announcement threads, despite some people discussing of possible ways of monetizing the game. It's understandable that some people would end up being annoyed, if not angered, by such a sudden and unexpected change.

What exactly do you mean? I haven't noticed any of that. I love the style of the game.Felkin wrote:By the way, Jorb, why did you follow the same trend as with Salem to make the art so inconsistant? Re: Game Development: A Far Green Country
You, the creators and we, the players are sittin together on a boat in middle of ocean. Everyone friendly for years. Then suddenly you push out your friend from boat (that's we - players) without any kind of warning and then you offer lifejacket for money or say goodbye for the rest who can't swim and just are destined to drown. I wouldn't mind paying like 1-2$ (but it's just me. I'm not rich. Like you, I have my own life.) per month, but I would like to know things before they suddenly happen and drown with the rest of unlucky people along with the griefers.jorb wrote:Because there's nothing to reply to?chaosfire220 wrote:Why can't you reply to the rest of the post?
This is the problem with your PR, you never answer any of the questions, you just glance over it and act snidy.
Yes, donations didn't get you as much money as paying for the game itself will, hopefully.
But by being so confrontational and refusing to talk to people without essentially telling half of them to leave(yes, a lot of them are being rude, but you just sprang the payment plan on us, so obviously a lot of people would be pissed off as they've been hyped for months and got no warning)
If you want Haven to be a business(which you obviously do if you want people to start paying for it) then you need to act like a businessman. That means not telling your clients to fuck off and go somewhere else.
You inform me that you are not ready to pay the price we're currently asking for the game. What can I say besides, "that's really a shame, have a good day".
You inform me that other games are free, especially during alpha when they are unstable. What can I say besides, "ok".
I truly do not mean to be rude. Only forthright.

Quite possible. On the other hand I could easily envision a scenario where people get pissed off because we're talking about payments and have nothing to show for it.Jeff wrote:Imho, the major blunder with the whole p2p debacle is to not have said anything to the player base beforehand.
Again, we wanted to present a package deal. Perhaps that was wrong, but here we are.
