Unless you want to do it for an exact timer on the wiki, don't bother. That 4-6 hours is based on lots of player experience and can be dependent on server lag. If I recall right, first the pelt decays, then the meat. Finally, the skeleton takes about half a day to decay.navi33 wrote: so putting it on boat has no effect then...

Ah, thank you.bmjclark wrote:There's a 24 hour "drying" time for an idol before it can be used.Haldim wrote:Hi.
I have just build Village idol. When I right click on it to activate it, it says "The idol is not yet ready". What is going on?
I have 2 more questions: Does palisade decay on village claim (on personal it does not) and is is possible to build crossroads into a cave?

Building decay: any claim counts to prevent decay. Just remember that some things will always decay no matter where they're at.Haldim wrote: I have 2 more questions: Does palisade decay on village claim (on personal it does not) and is is possible to build crossroads into a cave?
Crossroads: yes, but all crossroads must be built on a village claim. Thus, you'll need a second "dummy" village in the cave (or whatever level your mine is on). People have built whole villages underground for everything except farming.

This may be a silly question but do beehives affect tree growth?

Sure, if you leave the hive right next to your growing trees, it will stunt them and they will never mature. Otherwise, no, a beehive doesn't.LadyV wrote:This may be a silly question but do beehives affect tree growth?

Does the quality of the beehive affect the quality of the honey and wax produced there? Does crop quality affect it? What affects the quality of the beehive (carpenting?, materials?)?

Re: Please Ask Simple Questions Here
It's pretty much a mystery to everyone including Loftar, the guy who coded it. Generally, if you can keep the full radius planted with crops and harvest and replant them on time, the quality will rise, but this isn't an exact science.

Loftar has stated that hive quality has no effect on production quality. Testing has proven this. The quality of product works a bit like livestock do: it looks at the average quality of the "feed" (growing plants in this case) that the bees in the hive has. Missing tiles will decrease the quality. Lifetime quality is also taken into account, so a newer hive can produce better results than the old hive that was sitting there.feda wrote:Does the quality of the beehive affect the quality of the honey and wax produced there? To test yourself: Quality of built items (when it matters) is the average of the materials (which is also the average) so (Avg of boards + avg of blocks + avg of straw) / 3. Intentionally build what should be a "high quality" hive and collect wax and honey and then replace with what is intentionally a "low quality" hive when the "high quality" hive plateaus. (Use a new character with no farming, carpentry, or survival to make boards from a q7 or lower bone saw and harvest some wheat for softcapped straw).
