The fact that cavedust drops .01-.08 kg of dust depending on how many of the 8 tiles around it will collapse (which usually means 1g or maybe 2) makes predicting the exact location of the bad tiles a whole lot easier, in case you didn't know

Does it drop more than .03kg? I've only seen .01-.03 kg

I don't know if there's any limit to how many cave in tiles there could be in an area but up to .07 is certainly possible (albeit unlikely) as long as there isn't some sort of limit (.08 isn't in practice as you need a place to stand in order to mine the tile in the center)
