The reason he doesn't want to ask the devs for help is because he's already bashed us for doing the same thing. He'd look like an idiot if he asked them for help now, so he wont. I don't know why he didn't just do that in the first place. Beats me.
And to the guy walled in, yeah it's a inconvenience and were sorry that it happened to you. But I can't help but wonder why you were back there in the first place? What struck you to build a hearth fire behind someone else's house? It doesn't make any sense.
Why did we find theft clues all over the place leading back to that hearth? That is really why you were walled. We thought your were a thief who built a hearth behind a unclaimed cabin to steal from our members easier. So, we walled you in. You could have easily just pmed Jorb or Loftar to get them to remove the cabin, free your hearth and then replace the cabin. Instead you decided that you were going to wall in our mine, cabins and several other hearth fires. You made our mine unusable for a total of 4 hours because Jorb missed it when we pmed him to remove the drying racks.
Your arguments are flawed to the point of disbelief. You say "I walled you in as a precaution too!" As a precaution for what? You stole from us so we walled you in to prevent further thefts. You deny your thefts, yet we had around 15 theft clues pointing right to your hearth fire. We even went around to each corner of the house to ensure it was yours. To top that off there was no hearth fire inside the house, so it couldn't have been that. You stole from us - PERIOD.
If I were you I'd talk to Jorb and get your hearth fire freed. Then run your ass of till there's no tomorrow to get out of there before we kill your main, because that's the first thing on our minds. We've tried to be reasonable with you, I'm a hot head, I even tried to be reasonable, but you've been pushing our buttons to the point where we just don't give a flying fuck what you say anymore. So stop complaining. You've had more then enough opportunities to get out of there, you just haven't used them. If you hadn't started walling us in and just explained yourself on the forums we would have just let you go peacefully, maybe even let you live with us.
To end my contributions to this topic, BN or "B12", as it's commonly called, is not a hive colony. We don't believe were superior then anyone else, in fact some towns even have a higher industry standard then we do. Everyone thinks that just because were big and we have a few strong members that we think that were super heroes. No, we aren't. We just want to play the game like everyone else and have fun. We don't run a kangaroo court either. We make decisions based on FACTS, we don't just pounce on people and slaughter them for no reason, like some people seem to believe. We're even in the process of setting up a complete judicial system at the moment, I've discussed some laws with Goran and Hamel who are our current law speaker and chieftain.
That's all from me.

Re: Bottleneck Griefed
Alright alright, I've seen enough drama, and the "funny" has already worn off.
Problem: You're trying to tell other people how to play.
Setting: There are no rules in the game (except maybe don't crash the server).
Solution: MAKE him play the way you want him to play.
He's griefing you? Last I heard, there are at least 20 of you, and one of him; and you're telling me you can't do anything about him?
Bull.
If he steals from you, move EVERYTHING into a protected area.
If he griefs you, grief him back, burn the homes, salt the lands, nothing survives.
If you catch him griefing you, kill him.
If he hides hearthfires behind obstacles, block it.
If he abuses alts, block the ring.
If you get caged in, get a dev to remove it.
If the devs unblock the ring and hearthfires, block it again.
It's useless to try to reason with someone who has already decided how they want play, asking him didn't work, killing him didn't work; so what makes you think arguments and threats will? Arguments over the internet tend to fail anyway, unless said parties agree to disagree.
We're not politicians, we're not monuments to justice and fairness, we're players.
If you can't solve a problem, then remove it.

First off, there are way less than twenty of us at this point.

It worked.
Since I have implemented basic security measures, I have not been robbed once.
No griefer in the past few weeks has been able to do anything beyond minorly inconvenience anyone in Bottleneck. There is no problem.
This whole thread is dedicated to a very minor incident, that did nothing other than slightly annoy me.

If he steals from you, move EVERYTHING into a protected area. - Did that
If he griefs you, grief him back, burn the homes, salt the lands, nothing survives. - Interesting idea, might be worth a shot later.
If you catch him griefing you, kill him. - Did that, he made alts.
If he hides hearthfires behind obstacles, block it. - Did that, that's why he's griefing us.
If he abuses alts, block the ring. - That would piss a lot of people off. If you mean RoB.
If you get caged in, get a dev to remove it. - We did.
If the devs unblock the ring and hearthfires, block it again. - We intend to kill him when he tries to move.

A 10-page thread (9-page if you don't include the /b/) devoted to a "minor incident", right. This whole thread is dedicated to a very minor incident, that did nothing other than slightly annoy me.

But when the thread degraded into this nonsense and still kept going, I would've thought that someone would have pointed it out.

Re: Bottleneck Griefed
Alright I'm fed up.
We know it's not fucking working but there is nothing else that we can do to solve the problem. Making little progress? No shit! With people like this stunting our projects it sort of hard, don't you think?
We decide we're going to buff up our steel industry and this guy walls in our mine that we couldn't use for 4 hours the first time he did it and 14 hours the next time he did it. Were not retarded or dumb, but honestly, how's about this guy did it to you? What would you have done differently? I mean really!
- We brutally killed his alt
- We walled him in when he was stealing from us
- We got the devs to remove the drying racks
- We tried to talk him out of it
I respect you blaze, but COME ON MAN, read what your saying ffs!
You told us to do EXACTLY what precautions we have been taking already!
Maybe if people couldn't build hearth fires behind homes and practically everything over 2 feet tall to hide it this wouldn't happen.
Anyways, enough with these flame wars, getting out of hand really. We're just hurting our relations with other people over a dumb bitch that decided to grief us instead of just talking for 4 minutes max with a dev.

Re: Bottleneck Griefed
The only justification and reason needed to do anything in the game is "I feel like it". That's just how it is, if you can take the consequences, then there's practically nothing stopping you. That's the problem with these alts, they are easily replaced so the consequences are basically for naught. What stop griefing us nonsense? All I see are people arguing about his reasons for griefing
Because people were arguing about whether or not he was justified in griefing us. Personally, I think this thread should have died days ago.
If you made enough progress, this thread wouldn't have kept sticking to the same topic for several pages. In anycase, can we drop this and move on? This is turning into another of THOSE threads. And how do you know how much progress we have made? This is one of the first griefing incidents Bottleneck has experienced in weeks.
With that all out, the reason I told you to do that is because I assumed you hadn't already done it, since this is the SECOND time this sort of thing happened.
Until the devs work out the shortcoming and exploits, we have to fend for ourselves using every available means possible, I mistakenly thought that you were still holding out on some whim about avoiding their use; for that, I'll apologize.

He had his reasons, and we had our reasons to think that his reasons were dumb. Thus our discussion. Which, may I point out, was lots of fun. Nonsense, we can solve our problems and still argue about them. If you don't like to listen to us argue, then don't read the thread.Blaze wrote:If you made enough progress, this thread wouldn't have kept sticking to the same topic for several pages.
This thread was pretty much done, before you came in and told us how foolish we were for not implementing solutions that we already implemented to fix problems that we already solved.Blaze wrote:In anycase, can we drop this and move on? This is turning into another of THOSE threads.
Apology accepted.Blaze wrote: With that all out, the reason I told you to do that is because I assumed you hadn't already done it, since this is the SECOND time this sort of thing happened.

The reason this happened was not because we were not utilizing certain defenses, as there was nothing we could have done to stop this particular case.
