Game Development: Boneyard Lantern

We've been developing, and here's what's new.

Image

New Implementations
-----------------------
  • Re-implemented something more akin(no pun intended) to the old kin interface/buddy list from Legacy, including an avatarview for Kin, and information on when the kinned character was last seen online.
  • Added "Lantern Hanger", alternate hanger for lanterns.
  • Added skeletons for Walrus, Wolverine, Mouflon, Ram, Ewe, Lamb.

Key Fixes
-----------------------
  • Hopefully fixed a bug by which integer overflow could cause some crops to grow awfully slow. This will not fix crops which already have the problem, unfortunately.

Small Fixes
-----------------------
  • Fixed a bug by which you could drop fishing nets in shallow water.
  • Fixed a problem in the spawning of Fulgurite. Reported here, among other places.

Game Development: Bony Antvatar

We've been developing, and here's what's new.

Image

New Implementations
-----------------------
  • Re-added support for avatar rendering. Character portraits now appear again in the character selection list.
  • Re-added support for other avatars than camera avatars. Ants now use their old avatar from Legacy again.
  • Added up and down arrows for character selection in the character screen.
  • Added Felt Inlay. If successfully Gilded onto an Artifact, the Felt Inlay will add two new open slots, rather than one.
  • Added skeletons for Moose, Red Deer, Cattle, and Badgers.

Key Fixes
-----------------------
  • Removed the additional brick added to Potter's Clay last patch.

Game Development: Ranger's Honey

We've been developing, and here's what's new.

Image

New Implementations
-----------------------
  • Added "Land of Milk & Honey", realm blessing. "Yours is a land of Milk & Honey. Honey, Beeswax, and Milk are harvested at higher qualities, and the rewards for questing in your Realm are higher."
  • Added/Re-added "Ranger's Bow", from Legacy. Ranger's Bows deal more damage, and have longer range, than Hunter's Bows, but aim slower.
  • Added "Felt Hat", hat.

Key Fixes
-----------------------
  • For Oak Stance, Death or Glory, Combat Meditation and Bloodlust, inverted the effect of disparity in combat stats between you and the opponent(s), so that you get a better effect from them the better your opponent is, rather than the other way around. This primarily to reduce the effectiveness of alts.

Small Fixes
-----------------------
  • Animals should now break objects as they flee.
  • Can no longer open a UI for milestones without trails.
  • Added Weapons tooltips to Bows, Slings and arrows.
  • Buffed the Skull Throne to be on par with a normal Royal Throne.
  • Rabbits should no longer leave easter eggs.
  • Potter's Clay now requires two bricks, rather than one. Not sure if this fix is relevant, or if Potter's Clay is too broken irrespective of this? Does bone clay still have a place? Let us know.
  • Increased the post box inventory.

Game Development: Mercury Bones

We've been developing, and here's what's new.

Image

New Implementations
-----------------------
  • You may now logout on (domesticated) horseback, or in a coracle, and the horse or coracle will logout with you. Do note that the horse will still grow hungry as per usual when logged out.
  • Added "Quicksilver". Liquid metal acquired by smelting Cinnabar.
  • Added "Felt", cloth made from hides and Quicksilver -- no use other than as variable material right now. Will add.
  • Added "Quicksilver Globe", curiosity.
  • Added/Re-added Boar Skeletons. Boars now leave an actual skeleton behind when butchered, which can then be disassembled to bones, as it was in Legacy. Will chip away at giving other animals the same courtesy.

Key Fixes
-----------------------
  • Reworked the farming speed bonus implemented in the last patch, and moved it from the tile grown on, to the seeds harvested. Essentially plants will have some extra growth speed depending on how long they stood in the last growth stage. The basic idea still being to make you less incentivized to harvest and replant the same instant the crop matures, affording you some slack in waiting a while without losing growth speed. Same idea as last time, but this formulation avoids some problems that the first iteration had.
  • You can no longer place account bound items (i.e. store hats) on barter stands. Reported here.

Small Fixes
-----------------------
  • You can now craft directly into barrels when crafting things like wort, rennet, &c.

Game Development: Post Rose

We've been developing, and here's what's new.

Image

New Implementations
-----------------------
  • Made it so that crops no longer need to be harvested the second they finish in order achieve their minimum cycle time. Whenever you destroy or harvest a crop the time the crop harvested had spent in the last growth stage is saved per tile or trellis. That time, up to a point, will then be added to your next planting on that tile. Do note that if you do not replant within a certain period, the retained time will be lost. Replanting within 3 RL days of the crop reaching its final growth stage should not lose you any time.
  • Added "Postbox", container. You can hold an item and right click the box to insert the item, assuming it fits. You can also put a lock on the box. Suggested here.
  • Added "Rose Gold", precious alloy of gold, copper, and silver. Suggested here.

Key Fixes
-----------------------
  • Added tooltip names and icons to equipment points, and a highlight effect indicating what slots a held item can go in. Suggested here.
  • Moved the ability to attack other players on claims where you have permissions from Trespassing to Vandalism permission. Discussed here.
  • Anyone with vandalism permissions on a claim may now forcibly declaim a Barter Stand on that claim through the stand's interface. Doing so is as such only a crime of trespassing, and destroys all giving and taking hands associated with the stand.

Small Fixes
-----------------------
  • Changed the distribution of metal materials of the Metal Cabinet to what was actually intended. Sorry if I messed your designs up. Also made it so that you can put locks on it.
  • Fixed a bug by which studying Caveslime did not complete quests asking one to do precisely that. Also fixed a typo in the fluid being named "Caveslimes", rather than "Caveslime".
  • Tower and Poppy caps now consider cave tiles as their natural tiles, increasing their growth speed there. Suggested here.
  • Remade the lamb sausage slightly to have it influenced less by pig/boar meat. Suggested here.

Game Development: Cabinet Swarm

We've been developing, and here's what's new.

Image

New Implementations
-----------------------
  • Added Midge Swarms. Midge swarms are black clouds of midges floating about, primarily in swamps and forests, primarily at night, making life miserable for hearthlings by dealing the odd, and insignificant wound.
  • Added/Re-added natural tree regrowth. An old mechanic, recently resuggested here. Trees have some chance of naturally sprouting new trees nearby, quite simply.
  • Added "Metal Cabinet", container. Can't be stashed while full, like the cupboard, but can be kept outside.

Key Fixes
-----------------------
  • Implemented Potjeh's breeding idea. Instead of baby animals using an average of their parents' qualities when determining their own stats, they now select the value from one or the other parent, before adding a bit of a random roll as usual. The objective being to create more selective breeding.
  • Re-implemented auto-drinking when crafting. Do note that you will not drink from water sources reserved for crafting.
  • You can no longer apply medicines with open combat relations.

Small Fixes
-----------------------
  • Added internal walls to Beaver Dams.
  • Fixed the bug by which Cave Hermit quests would sometimes ask for mining of particular minerals on leveles where those were not available.
  • Fixed a bug by which it was possible to carry hookahs with smokers still attached to them.
  • Paving tiles should no longer decay underneath bounding boxes (Relevant for palisades, houses, &c).

Game Development: A Beesting Easely

We've been developing, and here's what's new.

Image

New Implementations
-----------------------
  • Added "Easel", can be used to decoratively display paintings. Suggested here.
  • Added "Kelp Cream", medicine. Can be used on Seal Finger. Provoked by this and this.
  • Added "Beesting", wound.

Key Fixes
-----------------------
  • You can now put sketchbook pages into your Hearthfire. Suggested/discussed here and here.
  • May have fixed a problem by which it was possible to jump down into black nil-tiles (evidenced in Bat Dungeons). May have unforseen consequences, so be on the lookout for such when climbing ridges.

Small Fixes
-----------------------
  • Made it so that Commune with Nature no longer increases its search distance the more total quest points you have. It should now generally contact quest givers close to you. Reported here.
  • Fixed a bug by which Pearl Diver quests would sometimes ask for obscene amounts (several K) of mussels. This fix will not affect already existing such quests.
  • Changed Wicker Picker from requiring straw twine to requiring branches. Suggested here.
  • Made it so that you can boil water from snow. Oddly, this only works while there is some water already in the cauldron, but, oh well. Snow which melts naturally also gives water if it's in a cauldron when that happens.
  • Made it so that you keep chipping boulders even with a full inventory. Suggested here.
  • Grapes now count as fruit and berry. Reported here.
  • You can now use right and left keyboard arrows while holding Shift or Ctrl+Shift to rotate objects during placement. Suggested here.

Game Development: Pearl Slime

We've been developing, and here's what's new.

Image

New Implementations
-----------------------
  • Added "Wanderer's Bindle", lower tech replacement for traveler's sacks. Carrying one in the right hand gives an extra row of inventory space, and carrying one in the left hand gives an extra column. Suggested here.
  • Remade Cave Slime into a substance, rather than simply an item. You can now store it in barrels, buckets, &c. You get varying amounts from the slimes. It's effect qua curio or food scales with how much you keep in a single item of it, much like with the Cave Dust.
  • Added "Slinky", curiosity.

Credos
-----------------------
  • Pearl Diver: There is a certain quiet, and profound stillness, that one can sense only in a mine, or near the bottom of a cool lake. You have plunged farther on down than most, driven always by the call of those rare, precious, lights, which illuminate the everdarks of the Hearth, but lately visions of especially rare baubles have begun ocurring to you -- gnawing at you, like grains of sand lodged in the iridescence of your mind -- and you have begun testing the waters to find the secret places of which the mussels whisper. The night sky was cut, by the Gods, from nacre grown in the river of time. Drawing the Pearl Diver's Breath promises...
    • Constitution +10
    • Halved asphyxiation damage when drowning.
    • Significant quality bonus when picking mussels.
    • Increased speed when swimming.
    • Significantly increased chances of finding pearls.
    • Image
  • Pearl Diver depends on Fisherman and Gem Hunter.

Key Fixes
-----------------------
  • Fixed a bug by which you could wall jump when exiting dungeons.

Small Fixes
-----------------------
  • Fixed a bug by which water offsets to animals were not always cleared properly.
  • Fixed a bug in the implementation of quests to catch small animals by which such quests always asked for the first animal type in their respective list.
  • Hopefully fixed a bug by which custom graphics were mirrored on Foldup signs.

Game Development: Hookah Vines

We've been developing, and here's what's new.

Image

New Implementations
-----------------------
  • Added "Hookah", a big fat pipe to sit down by for all your narcotic needs.
  • Paved tiles now decay by being overgrown with vines. If decay hits a paved tile, without an active claim, bordering a natural tile, or bordering another tile with vines already on it, vines may start growing over the hit tile. Further decay hits to tiles with vines will cause the vines to grow, until, finally, with the fourth hit, the paving, and the vines growing over it, are removed, decaying to a bordering natural tile. The effect in total being that paving decay of a large paved area starts around the edges and gradually corrodes its way into the center of the area. Suggested plenty, but among other places here.
  • Un-Jesusified animals. Animals should now have a proper height offset applied when in water, appearing to walk on the lake bed, rather than on the water. Do note that this may make some animals hard or impossible to click when in water. You can still use the minimap. Suggested here among many places.

Key Fixes
-----------------------
  • You can now put objects into object carriers when you are the last carrier of the object you are putting in, solving the problem that you previously couldn't unload your chests under a visitor debuff and then put them back in again.
  • You may now destroy burrows. Suggested here and here.

Small Fixes
-----------------------
  • Improved the UI for roads. They open instantly, and with an up to date client you have hotkeys for the options in the road UI.
  • Fixed a problem by which you could get caveins over water tiles.
  • Added a minor offset to make it easier to pick some herbs spawning close to objects.
