"the posibility to avoid defeat lies in our own hands, but oportunity of defeating enemy is provided by enemy himself..."
"Elemental tactics - when able to attack we must seem unable, when using our forces we must seem inactive, when we are near we must make enemy belive we are far..."
Its from Art Of War, I remember almos all this book and understand it, it is great instructions for leaders in such games, and I use it all the time.

We was in shadow before the moment we was strong enough to defeat army of Sodom and Buyan together. After that hiding became not neccesery. And attack is not needed.
Wisdom is when you stop enemy by strength not using it. Without head all body strength is pointless.
Also I see pointless to destroy big forces in this game by others... it make this game boring...

Yes, we wasn't AD at that moment, some people was quit because of boring game... and guys from Okoyama and Resistance started raiding our citys...
So people who quit returned, all people got one goal. At that moment was just leader needed to make all this possible and I took this place. Of course to let all this happen, I needed people who belived in me and my ideas, and the now with me helping me make all alliance stronger.

It's really interesting that you combine these teachings into the way that you handle politics for the AD federation. I personally like to use these principles during heavily political-oriented type games, and I've learned many things from them. I've learned that deception is a very vital aspect for politik, and I have found it to be a necessity even though I value the doctrines of loyalty and honour.

Anyway, many people think it's too extreme to be serious about politics in games, but I find it to be very interesting aspect that improves gameplay for all. I think it also teaches you lessons that apply to real life, especially in business.

Politics are a great part of any game in my opinion. If the game is slightly lacking in endgame (such as haven and hearth) politics and competition between players will keep people interested. Its always fun to try to raise politically through a game, even if you aren't a powerful character.
