there are 3 settlements between us that are part of the empire. i crossroad hop to your waters in a matter of seconds.
the point of our runestone spam, is to let new possible players in our mass location make their own contact, or understand they are taking that risk before they build somewhere.

we like to know who lives where, and im sure a new player or relocated players would appreciate not getting attacked 2 days after they build a farm.
We take no concern how you feel about us being here, or the efforts you think you can make.

the goal is complete security in our areas. and you are a threat to the security of the weaker friendlies we have.
If you are so confident, then why do you show so much fear in your typing?

if we have a reputation for anything, its that posturing threats have no affected us before. and only made the assimilated villages look foolish later on.
