We don't have strict rules about that, but recomendations is:
-solve it diplomatically if person stolen from us first time (kin him and make note)
-request a payment for theft done (payment is choosen by person who's items stolen)
-if payment done, thief free to go
-if thefing done second time after he was caught and did payment - death (it required, not recomended)

Anyway cityzens of AD can choose kill thief right now... but not if payment for crime was done in spoken term or during such payment. We always keep word.

AD is big city, we don't kill everybody right away, just don't turn on crimes when you there...
This rules don't apply to people who will try to attack our cityzens, attackers will be killed and this is requirement.

For topicstarter:
We must learn people not to steal... some people learn too slow, it took 3 times to raid polish neighbour city for crimes their people done. After some time they banned that people and moved closer to AD and we live peacefully from then, trading a lot. If somebody around will ask to find thiefs we will do it too, because we are biggest city in that region and responsible for safety.
Yesterday people near Xytop (allied city) was robbed. We were traveling to north end of world to find thiefs there. They were some koreans... they could be alive now, if they didn't thinked palisade will protect them and talked too rude...
So the point is - don't steal... never... Revenge can go to you 4-5hours, but it will find you...

They're stronger than you clearly, they know where you live and that specific person has motive to extort from you in the future or kill you.

"TAMPAX: Hi, I am Russian and you stole from us." sounds a bit stupid, as for me =))
I didnt tell you were I from =)), but I was easy to guess becouse of wrong keyset in one of my messages.

TAMPAX: Do you know were the A.D. is?
You: Yes.
TAMPAX: Did you see a barter stand near the place?
You: Yes, I guess...
...

"I know for a fact the scents will have expired very soon.." - I dont need your scents anymore, I already know were you live =)).
"I'm not worried about a ram as I do play enough to keep an eye out for one " - that just makes things easier.
"I don't know this person and can't exactly trust his word" - I saw you and 2 more ppl behind the polisade with no armor, but you all still alive. So, can you trust me ?
"If I collect the mussels, will they still come after me? " - no.
But, you better move if you dont. (all of you) =)

100 musles is not a hard task to do. It is not a extortion, 1000 is. It is just a lesson to make you more carefull =).

Like I said, I am getting the mussels you requested and will make the payment as promised. If you are true to your word then I have nothing to worry about.

Man, getting killed by a toon called Tampax would leave a bloody mess. Get it? I'm so clever.

I think you just dodged a bullet, OP. Many other people would have tracked your home, hunted you down and kill you.
If you keep focusing on the shadow behind, you will not see the light in front of you.

Being successful isn't just about hard work and succeeding, it is also about picking yourself up when you fail.

I agree, I did dodge a bullet. Seeing as this is my first world I have happened to make a few mistakes during my time playing, and this would be one of them. I do appreciate the reasonable action that was taken in response to finding my scents. Clearly I am not yet familiar with some of the "Unwritten Rules" of the political aspect that seem to exist, but I am learning.

Anyways, I collected 100 mussels and delivered them as was agreed, so I hope this matter is cleared up.

If you ever expect to do something criminal and foolish just because someone said so, live behind a brickwall with your hf inside, no a palisade is not a good substitute.

"...so I hope this matter is cleared up." - Yes it is =))

You just show to ppl that conflicts can be solved with no blood.
Not many ppl think the same way, and prefere to cheat and get killed for it.
I am glad that you demonstrate that with an example.

P.S. You are free to steal anything else from the barter stand. For 100 musles of course. =)))
