Lets talk about thieves

I'm sick of people acting like thieves and raiders are just losers that are trying to ruin the game. Seriously, shut the fuck up. Learn to defend and keep your shit safe. And stop acting like we have bad moral values IRL just because we choose to steal in the game. It is a ROLE PLAYING GAME. I choose to PLAY THE ROLE of a thief. And I happen to have lots of fun doing and I don't plan on stopping any time soon. Stealing is an awesome part of the game, and without it, the game would be pretty much be lame in my opinion. I can understand hating griefers that just go around looking for shit to destroy, but even then, it's still part of the game. Get over it. Learn to play better, get more skills, build a more secure town, and it wont happen to you. You also have the right to find and kill us thieves, so go do it, and quit bitching. I can't even count how many times people have acted like I'm some asshole that just ruins the game. Just get a group of people, attempt to track me down and kill me, then take back your shit. It's that simple. If you don't have the skills to do that, get over it and keep playing until you do, and hide your valuble shit somewhere else that we wont find. Even on my non-thief characters, I think thieves make the game so much more interesting. It really makes it seem that much more like a real world, which is exactly what I want in an mmo.

Right, and we play the role of the innocents, rangers, and other not-assholes. Real asshole or role play asshole, you're still an asshole. If you enjoy being an asshole, that's great. There's plenty of people in the real world who enjoy being assholes too, and in many cases it's even legal. People just don't like them.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. The reaction you get is the natural reaction to what you're doing. You can be a thief all you want and nobody can make you stop. You're the one being ridiculous though by expecting nobody to get mad at you for it. This game runs on crime, anger, revenge, war, and even griefing. Without any of it, it'd get old quick. Embrace your life as a thief if you like, but realize that comes with the hatred, the paranoia, and the death, and stop bitching about people bitching because you're being an asshole.

I like how you say this game is about war and thieVing revenge and griefing cause its true theres no other conflicts in this game unless they are made by man. Whithout these people nobody would play this game it would get to easy and not challenging way to quick. So in essence men being assholes are the only reason this game is fun. Sure it sucks when it happens to you but all you can do is grin your teeth and suck it up and fight back.

Keep it to ingame, shall we? This is a civilized discussion on thievery as a way of playing. People who take it too serious (like you are doing) is what ruins the game. OP is taking a viable way of playing the game and going with it, this makes the game fun for him, it's what games are made for, fun. Not so you can be "Oh so serious LAW ABIDING CITIZENZ", but so you can have fun.

If for him having fun means fucking around and stealing stuff, then let him have his fun. If for you it means tracking down thieves and killing them, then go have yours.

If anything I'd like more thieves, I need a reason to kill people for at least the LP they wasted on the skill.

You misread my post and misunderstand my intentions.

While there may be people in game who get upset at thieves and make stupid statements (I hate you IRL, etc) I really don't believe it to be commonplace. I have no issue with thieves, and like I said, they are a part of the game. I do however have a problem with thieves (and this is at least the third time I know of it happening) who come onto the forums and complain because people are upset at them in general. They seem to think because theft is an "allowed" part of the game they should be able to come and steal things and nobody should say a word or care. The point I am trying to make here is, people will care, they may care in game, or they may care IRL, but they will care to some degree, and it's kind of the point. Stop asking people to let you steal from them and wave as you leave. It's not going to happen. Either learn to be like the griefers and relish in their anger and hatred, or recognize that it's simply the reaction to your actions, and do what you do anyways.

I'm not the type to be a thief, I will admit, but it's largely because I know if I were, I wouldn't live too long, and I'm not the type who can grind LP fast enough to offset that. If other people want to be thieves, want to be murderers, want to be raiders, whatever. I find it silly and honestly kind of ridiculous though that they really feel there shouldn't be a negative reaction to their actions.

Furthermore, if you read my posts, you will notice that I am not the one who does the raging and the insulting, using the bad language, and getting all pissy. I discuss things in a way which gets points across, and I never take it personally. It helps if others do the same. The only part that I imagine could be taken anywhere close to me hating thieves was the "asshole" part, but the point there was simply that if you act negatively, even if it's a sanctioned act, your response is going to be negative.

I understood you however he has every right to be angry at other people who are so stupid as to confuse him with an asshole in real life. The same way they have every right to be angry at him for stealing things ingame.

He's not asking to walk away, he's asking people to stop whining and actually doing something which should happen, don't bitch on the forums, it doesn't help, get the fuck up and do something, because no one else will.

I will never argue that someone is a bad person for theft and murder. I agree its part of the game and yet its fun for some. If you want to stop a theif, put up a brick wall.

i put in real time and effort into getting stuff, even if its in a game the time and effort into getting/making it is real. so if its stolen i will compare the thief to a asshole in rl. accept it or dont steal but do not expect me to not call you a fucking douche for taking(example) 4hours of my time and effort.


though to be honest I've always palisaded everything i have asap so have never been robbed.
