Would you trust me to run a site like this? If not, I don't see how you could anyone else.

Okay, this is getting nowhere. We've created a hot topic simply by fighting back and forth.

I am just kinda surprised that there are like only ten users on these forums who post consistently.

I'm a bit new here but how did pacho client get started if everyone is this distrustful?

He was polite and well reasoned, which gave him a head start on trust.

He also provided a SUBSTANTIAL benefit over the base client (high res + IRC)

He also made it a lot easier to use his client than other modded clients by maintaining the code very promptly and keeping JNLP working

Lastly, if anyone decides he is untrust worthy, his code is all open source and available for easy perusing / comparing with loftars code, so trust isn't really all that much of an issue.

Thankyou for the polite response.
I didn't realize it was open source, that kinda shot my upcoming argument to bits.

You as a group have managed to induce a state of paranoia upon me, it's not a good feeling.

Jackard, that's not funny. We were arguing over the internet that's no reason to dent up another man's window safety mesh, you know they make the student pay for damages to the dorm. Why would you hit my window meshing with a bat, and how did you even find my room.

I will give it to you that you scared me shitless tho.

Need Steel for your village? Well, if you could just snoop on so-and-so for us, we'll set you up for life!

If that doesn't work then how about... Give me access to so-and-so's forums or I'll kill you and everyone in your village. No-one raids like GOONS do. /Delamore

Do you care yet?

ViciousGamer04 wrote:because the odds that our village is anywhere near another's is so very slim it isn't even funny,

No, what's funny is that you think it takes more than a couple of hours to hop over a couple of supergrids.

ViciousGamer04 wrote:and on top of that it's a game and I have better things to do then to stalk the individual village forums, lol.

Like setting up new forums every day and appointing moderators for them. Taking old moderators down, realising you probably want the villagers to manage that themselves... Realising some villages will want multiple forums, not just one etc...

ViciousGamer04 wrote:The advantage would be that it's more focused on Villages primarily

Because everyone's village is there with a forum, only those forums are secret so you can't read someone elses, which means it's no real different to what we have now anyway. IE: A bunch of boards for public chat where incidentally, everyone who's playing the game already automatically has an account - without any additional registration or having to visit another website.

ViciousGamer04 wrote:and then I stop paying attention after I set their users up for that particular forum and make it private

Until they want additional forums, moderators added or removed, a power struggle leaves you having to decide who should be in charge of the forums as people harass you asking you to demote XYZ because he's no longer in charge as XYZ says no he's in charge and can you ban ABC...

ViciousGamer04 wrote:Only boards I would be moderating are general ones such as a chat, basic haven help(which I state that it would probably be better to just ask on here.)

Yeah, it would be better to ask here. For trades too. So why go somewhere else?

ViciousGamer04 wrote:Oh, and what's the obsession with such a crappy free forum service like freeforums? Forumotion is so much better customization wise.

Actually, setting up and installing your own forums on your own hosting is the best way, but meh.

ViciousGamer04 wrote:Well, seemingly they do(the congress and apples boards.) but I feel they could be more elaborate then what they are and since they really don't suit our villages "needs"(and apparently others if they're off making individual forums as well.)

Yeah probably because posting maps and threads like "Village Planning" wouldn't really be the smartest things to post here. Hence freeforums.org (or whatever forum hosting solution you personally prefer to use which gives you the level of control you want).

. . . More bashing mixed with valid points.

If GOONS have any honor amongst themselves then just pay your $5 and get protection as you are now one of them. Or plan a trap with over 9000 Patriotic Nigras hidding in the forest nearby to ambush the goon-swarm.

On a side note: the meta-levels suddenly make a lot more sense if the goons and anon are stirring up shit.

okay, okay. Calm down, maybe years ago it was 5$ or maybe it was just a special offer for the pubbies of a particular game they took over the developement of to try and get some of the community to join their ranks but at some point I was offered membership for 5$.

I was talking more of register the entirety of the village, maybe you won't trust us to work with you but it wouldn't be productive to continue to raid us for X weeks then let us join as that would just lead to internal conflict.

Also i didn't realize you spoke for them until about 2 minutes ago.
