There are many of them yes, but this problem isn't just with archery damage, but damage overall, I mean how often does a hit after defense NOT 1hko someone of the same level? As I've been told since I started playing CON is largely useless, everything comes down to 1hko in battle, you could have 2,000 HP if you want and you'll probably still be taken down in a hit by someone with similar stats who gets through your defense. If anything should really change, archery should be better integrated into the combat, instead of being it's own separate pile of barely worth it crap, it should use the defense bar, the attack bar too perhaps, and should have something other than just quality for damage.

DoG thats sounds great. Just make special move (aim) to fill attack bar and some other move for empty defence bar. Useble only if you have ranged weapon in hands.

Oh please don't Datwo, archery is good
for hunting atm, don't tell them to use
offense, dodge uses defence. and i'm
pretty sure it'd be too complicated to
have arrows do less damage based on
the players defence bar, if not i'll just
shoot 2 times at once over and over.

If you're afraid to lose everything in an
instant from some kid with a bow don't
play at all.

I wasn't completely afk, I would have heard them breaking, ran and got my sword and shield and been able to fight for my life instead of just getting knocked out right away. While I wasn't amazingly statted I think I could have put up a decent fight, called for help, or even run away and survive.

Why not just make it so you can't target downed Hearthlings with a ranged weapon? So to do the coup de grace you must approach your quarry.

This would still allow for assassinations as you could still ambush people as they travel; but wouldn't allow people to just snipe random farmers through their walls. Of course if someone can plow through a palisade it's not going to matter much, but the murderer will still have to put more effort to get to his downed target to kill it than just shooting it again; which might give enough time for the victim to be able to run away if the delay is enough.

So that means they die from the HHP damage from the KO hit anyway? Well could always add something so like you'll have 5 hhp if you're 1 hit KO'd or some minimum, so a hearthling always has to be finished off all proper-like.

Well, considering the fact that the people who attacked us were palisade breakers, there is no telling... Strength isn't that important as far as combat goes, but it was certainly not your average raiders.

I think onehits is a great mechanic in a permadeath game. one hits are possible in real life yes? this game seems to try simulating real life situations as a 'social experiment' as i've heard either J or L state?
