I bet these heathens don't even know who good old saint McCarthy is. It's a good thing Texas has done everything in it's power to teach the younger ones about this glorious man!

This wasn't even unjustified, the current game mechanics do not allow any other form of retaliation if you want to make sure your own safety is secured for a solid amount of time.

Goons are (still) the negros of haven and hearth.

I suppose my next story could be like 'Things Fall Apart' by Chinua Achebe. That could be fun.

Judging by, among other things, the rune stones in the area, I concluded that it was a goon village, which Sabinati admitted. He agreed to pay us restitution for the lost and destroyed stuff.

In the process of working out what would be paid back, we were attacked again. The raiders again destroyed all they couldn't take, and even killed our lawspeaker, possibly using the chat bug.

Eventually we had a fight. This was the largest fight on this game I have ever been a part of. Frankly I am surprised our people didn't end up attacking each other.
This was the mother of all battles and was actually the most excitement this game could muster. We need more of this but the combat system and perm death makes a lot of people want to avoid any PvP at all costs.

Amen.
Not even the permadeath so much as the impenetrable combat system.

The combat system could use some work, to be sure. It has a few issues.

Also, although I do enjoy the idea of battles and seeing even more engagements like Xanadu's destruction, not everyone does. It's a bit too easy to destroy and a bit too hard to build (or rebuild.) It might take hours to build a house, and less than a minute to bring it down.

I'm not really sure what the solution is though. It would be nice if there was a way we could have our war cake and eat it too. I'm sure with proper study into this someone could come up with a reasonable solution, but a lot of the combat stuff ties into the broken LP system. I mean, if you really want to make a terror on the battlefield all you need to do is load up a macro and let it run for a few days. Of course, the devs have stated that they won't do anything to stop this, so we'll have to wait until the new wyrd system comes along before we see any improvement in that.

Considering this was the largest engagement the game will probably see for a while, maybe it would be helpful if the people involved with the fighting would post suggestions on how to make combat less impenetrable.

So what were you expecting us to do? Nothing? And you yourself seem to be quite upset about your own pixels.

Does that make Russians Spics?

Oh, no. I'm not upset. I've actually had a blast with all this.

You guys didn't do anything I didn't expect you guys to do. Well, actually, in your shoes I probably would have taken things a bit further, truth be told. I just wish that the person who challenged me during the first day of all this spent the time to actually type in a non wow-speak manner, that's all.

Edit: Never start a sentence with And, KoL. Don't be a hypocrite.

A little bird from Xanadu has told me that you guys plan to build a house next to our walls, and then destroy it with the raiding party inside, which should result in some of them getting tossed over the wall. Two problems with that:
1) The same little bird will tell us when you set out to do this. He should know when it goes down, because he's a member of this raiding party.
2) When you're caught in a house at the moment of destruction, you lose all SHP and are KO-d. It's going to be fun killing y'all while you're still unconscious.

That was just theory crafting. It wouldn't ever really work in a serious situation.
