A death without murder scents?

Postby vasjm88 » Sun Aug 29, 2010 2:44 pm

One of my villagers was killed yesterday morning, he logged on and found that his character is dead. We aren't that advance, and he wanted to try his new skills he had been saving up for, and decided to trespass and take some vegetables from an abandoned plot just east of our village. We had been monitoring the plot for a while and no one had been on since we started playing a few weeks ago. He is sorry for trespassing on a land claim, and after this event we will never do it again, but as we all know, its fun to test out new skills once you get them, it's all part of the learning curve of the game. Now, someone decided to track the scents left back to his place and summoned him to his hearth fire inside the palisade, and killed him. There was only assault scents left, no murder scents, and my villagers body was movable right away, and was a skeleton. All his items were on the ground. It's very strange that this has happened, is it a bug or something? I thought it usually takes a while before a body decays, but it was a skeleton right away. Anyone might know what happened, or this happen to anyone else?

I had a friend with +100 perception come down, he couldn't find any murder scents, only assault scents. We were able to move the body right after as well, which makes this really strange. No murder scents and the movable skeleton makes me believe it could be a bug. It doesn't make any scents at all, no pun intended.

And how much exploration? I mean, 100 perception * 1 exploration isn't really usefull...

You said that he logged in to find himself dead.

Meaning that he was attacked overnight.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but when you're force summoned, it effectively 'logs you in' to the game. Meaning that your hunger bar will tick down as per usual.

Could it be possible that he had a low food bar, thus couldn't regen HP after the assault and eventually starved to death while remaining logged in due to the forced summon?

I'm still new so i don't know the specifics that surround force summoning but it's another angle to look at the problem from.

It is not possible to starve to death in this manner as your HP will not tick up and drain Hunger if you are Very Hungry or Starving. He would have to have had virtually no HHP left, already have been starving, and be force summoned for a very long time (you're logged back off once you exit combat) for this to work.

Well, if they did, I wouldn't look like a fool with 150 stealth any longer :/

My friends perc*exp is high enough to see murder scents.

It crossed my mind that he might have died of hunger, but as stated before, it couldn't have been that. As for the stealth being implemented, I doubt the developers wouldn't say anything about it. This is really puzzling, anyone have any other ideas?
