It was never a matter of lack of ability to delegate. Running an empire or part of one in any sort of capacity is very time consuming and you could easily spend long hours walking in circles while you solve this dispute with one village or get another village to produce this for that village. It's the time consuming aspect of leadership even in a virtual world that puts people off. There are plenty of people out there with the ability to lead or make things happen in Haven and Hearth but very few with the desire to actually devote time to something other than developing their characters and doing what they want to do. Maybe if I come back in World 4 with and some of my original crew comes with me we will see what happens but I probably won't have more than one or two villages because I will still be doing my real life work which is significantly more time consuming than it was when I first started playing.
But as Dusk said, the HRE is still around and I believe they are still running at least more than one city. The capital is still well maintained and most of the people are a friendly sort. If you know where to find them and how to contact them it shouldn't be hard to get in on the Empire and help it grow. They just avoid the forums because it tends to draw unwanted attention to your village unless you are good at not irritating people.
Oh yes and to all my old friends in Soddom, Killville, The Goons, Legion/Thurrok, New Brodgar, Barashiou the Russian, all the HRE crew past and present, and even those asshole russians who kept raiding us, and anyone else I met in my travels but can't remember right now, I hope to see you all in World 4 in some sort of form or fashion.
