is seclusion...good?

Postby zacty » Sun Nov 28, 2010 4:20 pm

as ayou know, or can easily find out at least, i am very new to this game, there is alot i dont understand, especiously with PvP relations, so, i live on a smal island, near uncharted territory, would it be better for me to pack up my things, and move away, away from the large amount of society, or would it be best for me to live in a large town, surrounded by people?

on the side of towns, i know there is safety in #'s, but they also attract unwanted attention, where as in seclusion, if someone with ill intensions DOES happen to find you, you have nobody to help you out, but the chances of the finding you are reduced, right?

so which is better? i dont know much about this :p

I value growth, life, adaption, and nature. I love to hunt, mate, kill, and eat--to me that's all there is. At my best I am instinctual and unpretentious. At my worst, I am vicious and unthinking. My symbol is a tree. My enemies are blue and black.

Seclusion is a lot of work, but it is generally safer. Although if you don't have alot of friends, if a random palisade-bashing griefer comes across your little settlement, you won't be able to do a thing about it.

There is always risk in Haven & Hearth, that is one of the things that really makes it fun.

I think you should hang out where you currently live and get some basic stuff established; try to find a decent clay source, and if you have any caves nearby increase your per*exp to find cavebulbs, while you generally explore your local area. Go out in certain areas, then come home -- try to do this manually and not with hearth warping, so you'll remember more of your trip. Haven & Hearth, when it comes down to it, is about geography! This will also give your character LP and some skill levels, so once you get to the point where you can decide whether or not your starting area is worthwhile enough to establish a real town there, you have the skills to be more valuable to other villages if you look to join them. 8-)
Hearthlings: Marona; Chamberlain (retainer alt), Vincavec (shaman of the Dryad Wells Forest)
