Seem I'm having a bad streak of bad luck.

Seemed like just some traveler passing by.
Asked what town this was. So I answered, And gave direction on other town nearby.
Next thing I now I'm Lying on the ground. (inside palisade personal claim)
- so I switch to other (low gear character). To checked things out a bit more. (and note at some point that main character is gone from login list. ... bummer.)
After perp is gone. Check out if there is some message, but don't see any yet.

O well ... Hickups are part of the game. (would still be nice to know a reason ... if there was one.)

Not sure. Don't think so.
Think he was carrying a bow. (note so self ... don't talk to characters with visible weapons, unless wearing some protection.)
Other than that he did not look looked a ranger.
- seemed more like newbie type. wearing Bear Cape. Did not notis anything else special.

There probably isn't a reason.

Anyway, how long did it take him to shoot? Judging from your post, it took the guy about 5 or so seconds to shoot you, which means that he has very high marksmanship.

Of course that doesn't tell you much, but it's a start.

Also, some griefers dress as noobs in order to fool their victims into feeling safe.
