deserted village...good to move into?

Postby Kipperdipper » Sat Jan 08, 2011 2:23 am

So, my last character had an accident, locking themselves into an area so I starved them to death.
started anew, went searching for somewhere completely new to start.
found this abandoned (obviously abandoned) run-down village with a few reminiscent pieces of items here & there, a lot of torn down highly damaged palisade and so on.
dead bodies
runes everywhere, one written in Russian.

Fair is fair if I fix it up, right?

Including making a personal claim on it, of course ;)

Yeah, mines are done this way a lot of the times. Just so long as you're completely sure its abandoned which it sounds like it is. :D

Yeah, I can't see why anyone would come back for it.
seriously.
you can see where all the walls would have once been, but about 95% of them are decayed to absolutely nothing or been knocked down, out of what's left 100% is in red state so its obviously not being looked after, one runestone giving a HS but that HS is no longer active.
all items are in disrepair.
no valuable items left in containers.
and no PC's or VC's.

Seems like I hit gold.

also, just found a load of crops (about 10 flax, 30 or so pumpkins and around 20 - 30 wheat) unharvested and normal ground beneath them.
obviously anyone who cared about the area would have harvested them for food, or even just the LP.

well, the walls are all fixed (or, the parts I'm going to use are all fixed. lol)
bits and bobs around the area fixed up.
rune-stones moved out of the zone.
area personal claimed (completely).
one door made.

damn. its taken a bit of work, due to the size of the place, and still a lot more work, but this place is really doing well >.> I'm proud of what I've found.

take this as a lesson boys and girls... sometimes its best to go out and scavenge, you never know what treasures you might find if your willing to put in the work.

SO. MUCH. WORK. >.<

note to self: never assume that rebuilding a wall from 1-5% still standing but in extremely poor condition to 100% built and 100% condition, of that size, is an easy task.
took two days hard graft to acquire all the material. admittedly, broken up, but it was many hours spent.
that being said, my current residence is both bigger and more secure then the previous. the only thing I'm losing out on is:

-A decent silk farm
-All my tools excluding a q28 bonesaw I had elsewhere
-All my armour & weapons
-Backpack

Lesson? Make more then one god damn door to any closed off area. god forbid you lose the key and stupidly teleport into locked area.

edit: and then I found out its a new server? awh crap.
that's all that gone, but new beginnings mean POWERFUL PLAYERRRRRR
