The politics thread

Postby Sarge » Fri Mar 19, 2010 11:07 am

I don't know if this thread will catch on or if people will feel it worth making the effort to post here, but I'm quite curious a bout a couple of things.

Since I took a 3 month sabbatical and kicked off again at the latest server reset, I missed out on quite a bit of the politics. Many/most the previous map players are active in the new map and a hell of a lot of new Hearthlings kicked-off on this map. For our benefits, would those who feel that they have a grasp for carried through politics or anyone that wish to contribute, flame, critisize, defend, state, explain or whatever else, add their 2 cents worth here, since, those very politics will heavily influence this map and the uninformed may be directly affected by some of it.

Matters and factions like, Waynesville (quite a bit in this map's forums already), Goons, Brodgar and others come to mind.

I would like to kick off on this public forum by asking anyone who cares to explain the details regarding my perceived tension by some ex-Waynesville, now Sodom members, regarding Hearthling Rage - what happened on the previous map?

Long story short, we decided not to play with Rage again on this map, because there had been quite some tension and fights between me, warri and him at the end of the second world. We still hoped for a good relationship with him and his little village on the new map, but apparently he took some of my comments so bad that he won't even talk to me. I already apologized to him if I came of a bit harsh, but Rage tends to bring that side in people out by being rather rude himself once he is...well raging. Since him and Gato are living in the same house, he tried to get intel on us from Gatos computer. Like hearthsecrets and stuff. So now you might get why we are rather pissed at him, though my apology still stands and if Rage wishes to come to terms with the whole thing, I am still willing to set up a trading partnership or whatever with his town.

For the idea of your thread, I am not sure this will work out since people tend to open new threads for any new political occurence.

Well, I'm confident that once Rage has taken the oppertunity to present his side of the story, from all points of view, there might be a better understanding and some resolution.

As far as Goons are concerned: 1stly for the noob-noobs, very brief, is that the Goons leader in 1st half or so of the previous map was a hearthling by name of Delamore, who was feared by some, liked by some, respected by some and hated by most... kk, the last bit was my perception. From around the middle stages of that world, Delamore opened a thread in this very forum that stated that the Goons demand protection payment in goods from any and all, else they will simply kill those that don't, on site, and take all their shit anyways.

That was the last I had, so, wish for some light to be shed from hereafter. I understood that Delamore was then kicked from Goons... was it because of the extortion? and the Sabinati took over and peace again came about - that right?

The forums were flooded with Goons threads at the time I took a break, but hardly a whisper in this world... why so quiet on the Goons topic, seriously though, what is that changed so drastically?

delamore wasn't kicked out or anything, but stopped playing after he got killed and a bunch of goons got killed because of his extortion racket. after that we didn't really go out and do crimes so we just kind of faded away.

Hi Sarge :)
I also took a long break from this game (mainly because you left, things quickly got boring and the lag was unbearable). So Delamore ragequitted, awesome. Looks like he got a swig of his own medicine hehe. Have most of the goons and drama-whores gone with him? Also with the new reset are there any particularly big towns standing and at war / drama queening?
I may start again on the new world since I've only JUST decided to check on this game. And a bit has changed since, the main one being the RoB has finally gone. Cya in-game :)

I had hoped that being killed would allow me to rebalance my stats and open up alot of the game for me to enjoy, but after rebalancing them I found there was just not much more to do anyway. Drama is the most fun part of Haven yet you have to work so hard to get it.

Heya mate! :)

Yeah, some drama already, but more whining than anything worth war, way too early. As far as new things, pffft, like a soapy, you'll know what's going on 2 days in, development is seriously slow, but to be expected with a 2 and half man show. Also, there are a gazillion basics that were requested way back when and it's still the same. As far as lag is concerned, yup, it's still fucked  but, it's still fun and the social side is great.

See you ingame bro.

Edit: oh yes, and forgot to mention, if macroing wasn't an issue in the previous map, this time it certainly is, the world is already completely imbalanced as far as stats are concerned, if a macroer attacks our spot, we are fucked.

Well, if you're wondering around Brodgar, I can type about it in my perspective...

So after the first reset, I started building my home quite near the RoB. I believe Yolan and maybe a few others were working on Brodgar at this point.
When I finished the palisade of my home (this took about a week) Brodgar was up and running with a village idol.
So I join Brodgar even if I live 20 seconds away from it, help around a bit (not much, if I remember) and work on my own home. I lived with Darki at the time and met someone who's old name I've forgotten. His new name is in my Kin List currently though, I've just forgot. >.<

Skip about 2 weeks, I've moved. I lived about a few minute's walk away from Brodgar though. Darki and my friend who I mentioned earlier had moved here recently, and I decided to join them because I was pretty bored living alone, as Brodgar wasn't too active. At some point, Brodgar had a copper mine (Ithink it was copper) and I got a bar cause I helped out with linen cloth while I lived in my old home. After this, I pretty much lost contact with Brodgar as I moved again maybe a week and a half later to the village of Mudcrotch. (Which required me to go through like, maybe 1 and a half supergrids. I waded through rivers that connected from near Brodgar, a lake near Swampcrazed, and finally to the mudflats of Mudcrotch to get there. I didn't want to get hit by a bear, and there were no boats at this time.)

I had fun at Mudcrotch with Kzur Pendur and others I forgot, but the place pretty much died out and everyone went inactive while I left for about a month. (Actually, I believe someone who moved out into the wilderness to hunt was still active, but I didn't talk to him after I moved.) Soon after the boat update, I warped back to RoB with no intentions of going back. (I took the village's gate key. Heheh, I should've just left it, but the gatekeeper left it there on purpose because he must've quit.) So I go back, get Yolan to invite me back to the village and I settle in one of the abandoned plots. All I did was work on my plot and hunt level 1 boars and dear, if I remember correctly. Brodgar became a ghost town, as no one was active, Yolan didn't play much and Trav went on holiday at some point which made it more lonelier.

Maybe after a month of inactiveness, I log back in to find my walls have decayed and all of my stuff has been taken. Oh well. At this point, I saw Jfloyd's topic of wanting someone to partner up with his alt. I play on a new character and have the thrill of building a new home again, but get bored of it and stop playing. Jfloyd and someone with the in-game name 'Musician' if I remember stopped playing too I believe.

Then the reset is announced to happen to two weeks time. I didn't play because I just wanted the reset to happen before starting again. I saw the end of the world party thread though, and decided to join in with my Brodgarian character. We sit, chat, drink, watch a naked woman juggle lit torches, and go afk in our chairs. Somehow, I had died after leaving my character unattended for about an hour. I make a new character, inhereit my old guy and continue partying.
I went to sleep before the reset though, so I didn't get to see eagles or anything.

That's pretty much all I remember.
