I would ask help to people of other villages. That's how i got supplies for a village claim + palisade. Villages haves much items...

If you can't get together the items needed for village claim, it probably means your settlement is too early still.

I say this because village claim is a huge mofo'ing target sign on the mini map that screams THERE ARE PEOPLE HERE. If you don't have well established foundations, you won't survive long. You won't be able to build up village defenses if you rush too fast with weak foundations, your farm is probably too meager to support the village and you probably wont be able to grow your own trees causing massive strain on natural resources near you.

A large personal claim + Wall is all good until you are ready for the next step.
