Jorb and Loftar should ask other MMO makers for advice.

for example loads of people have been talking about bridges and how coding them would work or not work and some madness like that, then i got an idea, ask the developers of some large mmorpg for help or tips on coding multy surface areas, im sure they have some knowledge :ugeek: involving that and loads of other things. i bet that thinking about a list of most popular games and contacting the developers would be verry useful.
Long story short: Call for help :!: :!:

Well, this thread is a bit... silly to say the least.

I'm going to refer you to:http://www.havenandhearth.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=4012
- Your title is not informative, it's just a 'catchy' title.
- Your idea is very poorly thought out and needs to be refined

There are many problems with this idea:
1)loftar/Jorb don't really need help or want it. They will go at their own pace, anyone else interfering (especially people that make those awful commercial MMORPGs) will just muck things up.
2)They know 'how' to, it's just not currently possible, by reading up on this you'd see in a few threads the reasons why are explained.
3)The problem that 'bridges' were thought up to 'fix' is now fixed by the Raft update.
4)I'm sure they know what they're doing, and if they've come this far the last thing they need it to contact said people who are usually money hungry (they did sell out and instead of making beautiful fun games made 'hey i want money' games), what makes you think they wouldn't charge even for a consult?

--
If you intended other indie MMO developers there are sadly very few who do things even resembling this, although that wouldn't be a bad idea. Perhaps if you explain it a little better?

I'm going to go ahead and assume that this post is mostly a lack of english.

While specific "how do I do X, how do I do Y" stuff is probably neither desirable nor likely, in general I highly recommend speaking with and socializing with other MMO dev's (particularly indie ones) to cross pollinate ideas etc.

You're all a bunch of very clever, motivated people who actually get stuff done, so I'm sure you've all got heaps to offer one another. Maybe you should get together and have a party, with like, balloons and streamers and stuff

Jorb always talks about how much he loves DF but I've always wondered if they've had a chance to try Battle for Wesnoth.

Not true btw. Bridges do not create barriers in water that make it feasible to protect natural resources.

not sure what you're hinting at - why should they look at BfW?
I've played it for a few hours, but lost interest quickly. it just didn't seem that original or anything...

a bridge is a pic or title that object >self and object >boat can go over

When object self goes onto the bridge you see your self on top of it, when boat go ontop of it it see it's self under it.

THIS IS SO BASIC i should slap you for saying lorf or jorb dont know how to do it.

That style with depth of object is what all programmers know for gamming, if lorf didnt know that we'd always be ontop of tree while we were behind them.

The problem isn't that they know how that's right, the problem is that it's not doable due to the way some stuff works. I'd dig up the exact quote but anyone interested should probably read a lot more than that in search it. :P

What natural resources would be protected via bridges, clay spots? Being able to make 'troll bridges' (Think troll under the bridge, not internet trolls) seems like a terrible idea.

Yes it would be nice to have arch bridges that you could go under and use to walk over but they'd just be EVERYWHERE if they were even medium difficulty to make (Why you would ever want to NOT have one 'there'? :P

Also I think you guys have two different ideals of what a bridge should be.

Just because you can't comprehend the value of strategy in a PK MMO doesn't mean there isn't any. B4w is in fact, quite original. I'm not sure who you think they're ripping off?
