You do realize that crops can be raised forever and ever (albeit slowly)? That hermit you sell the seeds to is gonna crow more crops and then sell his seeds and then it will spread like the plague, therefore having those HQ seeds will mean nothing.

Look at it from an economic stand point. If you sell someone high quality seeds, they will then be able to produce their own materials that that seed produces (Plant fibres, straw ect.). BUT, if you sell the byproducts people plant those crops for, then they will keep coming back for more, and you make more money.
