Why, I ask, WHY do I have to make 30 million baskets before I am able to stop foxes from killing me in three hits?
Look I've seen real foxes.
If one where to attack you, the best defense is to step on it. There is no conceivable way that a fox could harm a conscious human being over the age of four.
And second of all, the fact that they TRACK YOU DOWN. No natural animal does this outside of extreme starvation. THEY PHASE OUT OF THIN AIR TO ATTACK YOU!
But the worst thing is that there is no defense from foxes. They will chase you until you pass out from hunger. They will bite you until you die (three bites). You cannot fight them. At all. You can't even click on them. You avatar says "Oh, no! I sure couldn't figure out how to, for instance, stomp on that foxes' skull to save my own LIFE!"
Now that that's out of the way- some legitimate notes;
-The view doesn't center quickly enough, causing you to travel blind- you can't see more than 10 feet in front of yourself. Have the view keep the PC within a few dozen pixels of center.
-Provide some kind of self-defense tool for new players, or at least tell them how to get one.
-In the immediate next release, provide a way to destroy baskets, and preferably have empty baskets degrade into dust over a few days, to prevent this basket spam at the spawn point.
-Consider a better map system, or at least more distinctive areas, so that players can get the sense of moving over great distances. Currently the game feels rather static because everywhere you go, there's a bunch of jagged cliffs and apple trees.
-"Overstuffed" has too severe an effect. I understand that eating a lot might slow you down, but three bites of apple over the limit won't lock you into a permanent crawl.
-Hearthfires and dreams: Ok, I get that you want to create an atmosphere of misticality. But still, in real terms, all this does is make it extremely difficult to save the game. If I've walked halfway to my friend's settlement and it's 11:45 PM, I WANT TO GO TO BED. But then I loose all my progress unless I happen to be carrying a "dream", which is incredibly hard to get and I won't have a supply of unless I have already invested hours or days into the game, for instance I have a job, and thus get, perhaps, an hour of gaming a night, this means that I can only go to places, oh, a half-hour out from home.
Look, I know this will read like a lot of complaints (and many, if not all, of them will be repeats of others'), but please keep in mind that I wouldn't complain about the game if it wasn't good enough to complain about- and this game is definitely good enough to complain about.
