It probably won't die until the last person who remembers the fall of the Berlin Wall has died of old age. And maybe not even then, since some people never got the memo. Remember, there's still people fighting the American Civil War. Heck, there's still people fighting wars that officially ended in the 17th century.
...Heck, there's still people fighting wars that are believed to have begun and ended sometime around the 7th century, even though they have incomplete information about what transpired and no blood relation to anyone involved, just because they read about it and then convinced themselves that they were chosen to fight in it by fairy godparents or were the reincarnation of one of the major belligerents.
Ideas are really, really, really hard to kill. Or at least the ones that inspired people to kill in the first place.
