Speed strategy?

What would be the fastest route to increasing skills? I don't care about having a fancy house. My gameplay style is to just be a sort of nomadic type of character wandering about the world and hunting animals. I want to get to where I can hunt bears but as a fresh starting player that's a long ways off. Could someone kind of give me an idea as to what I should do to eventually reach this goal?

What should be my LP grinding method from start to finish? Like right now I may be chopping trees but how long should I do that for until I can start hunting the big stuff.

This game's pretty in depth it seems and a little overwhelming for newcomers and I've spent hours on the wiki searching every new thing I come across as well as the forums reading on what other people seem to be doing.

Starting out new it seems the fastest thing to do for experience is to chop down trees.

What skills should I focus on? Marksman? Survival? Exploration? What skills should I aim for? I really have no idea what to do and would really appreciate a rough idea of what it is I'm trying to achieve so I'm not wasting my points. D:
