New player question. I built a palisade, and this guy suddenly showed up when I was making the gate. I'm not sure, but I think he might have been trying to get a palisade key from making the gate. It was on my property, but he was still able to interact with it- he took some blocks of wood off and built one into the gate while I was collecting wood. I finished the gate and got a key from it.

My question is: if he also had the build interface open and was building at the same time, would he also get a key?

The person who built in the last material will get the key so it was a 50/50 chance on getting the key if both of you were building. You got lucky.

What happens if a village idol is left too long and the authority sinks to zero?
If I've logged out a character on a village claim, been kicked from the village and then had my hearth fire destroyed. Is there any chance that I will be able to log in with that character at the same place again?

Village with less than 50k authority is almost the same as an area that is not claimed (unless there is a personal claim) meaning that outsider can interact, steal , or destroy anything in the village without leaving scents. Furthermore, the idol and any authority structure is vulnerable to destruction as well and all structure are now subjected to decay. This will continue to happen until authority rises above 50k again.

Based on your situation, since there is no authority in the village, you should be able to log back on in the area.

How many fresh-out of the starting room-alts would I need to ram a Brickwall Cornerpost and gate down?

Can't have more than 4 people on a ram (the answer would've otherwise been 17).
The minimum you could have is 3 people with 169 strength and 1 with 144 strength. The sum of the rounded down square roots of the strengths has to add up to 51 to break the soak of a brick wall, but I'd recommend at least hitting a total of 52 or 53, as it will significantly decrease the time spend ramming the wall.

Will putting an animal(in this case a bear) inside a house keep it from decaying?

If you mean the corpse, I don't think so.
Claims are meant to stop anything inside from decaying. There is a claim near my settlement with a dead deer inside the forest and it's corpse decayed into a skeleton.

I wouldn't know to be honest, I think it would be safer to just take the animal than to use it while you can than take the risk of losing it.
Looking for help. I'm sort of new to this and I'm trying to get my camp well structured.

Nothing will stop dead animals from decaying.
