But again, wasn't it said somewhere else a troll needs a 2x2 space to spawn? So if you mine a 1-tile tunnel, it shouldn't, just as it was said you'll never see a troll when snake mining. I don't see where it's different.

No. They smash the tiles they spawn on and can bash tiles.

So... Does that mean that they do spawn when straight line mining? Sorry, got to make sure.

Trolls can't spawn unless there is a 2x2 space available, so you should never see a troll spawn when snake mining

Conflicting information makes me unhappy I'd also like to know what's true, now.

They do spawn while snake/straight mining. I've had it happen multiple times.

About the post I made: that was way back when before someone reported encountering trolls when snake mining. Right now the current claim is that trolls will spawn snake mining (I'm going to assume straight mining as well), just are more infrequent.

What's the lowest quality Flotsam anyone has gotten this world? I just netted myself a q10. I'm sure it's nothing impressive, but I find it pretty amusing myself.

Flotsam quality is based on the soil quality around where you found it. Therefore since soil quality can't go below q10, you found the lowest possible quality flotsam.

Soil quality? I would've thought it would matter on the water quality since you forage it from the water..

Yes but its a piece of wood, hence it grew from the soil.
