The animals will lower in quality based on the food that they consume.

This seems not to be true: one day later, the breeding pair has eaten from their fodder (Q43), and still has their original qualities (Q100+). Chicks are affected as stated above.

I'm guessing most players don't run into this, since crops tend to rise in Q a lot faster than chickens/livestock ?

The numbers themselves stay just as high as ever. The issue is their effective quality. They begin to lose quality in products and offspring.
I'm not sure how quickly the decline is though. It certainly isn't immediate but it may take more than a day or two.

ah, maybe that is the fact for actual livestock (tamed animals), something like milk quantity/quality soft/hardcapped by food quality?

I'm not seeing any adverse effect on the chickens, though.

Probably but the landscape shifts constantly as you're asking for social constructs. Aim for the edges of the map as opposed to the more central supergrids.

according to the wiki page on keyboard shortcuts,

Shift+Mousewheel = Use shift+mousewheel to transfer items from container to inventory, or back.

I can't seem to get this to work... What exactly should I do (have the item under the cursor, container window open, ...) ?

relatedly, none of these work for me either:
Shift+CTRL+Mousewheel Use shift+ctrl+mousewheel to sort by quality (descending) when transferring.
CTRL+ALT+Mousewheel Use ctrl+alt+mousewheel to sort by quality (ascending) when transferring.

I'm using Ender's client, if that makes any difference (but I don't see why he should have removed this functionality)

Where your mouse cursor is located matters. Make sure to have your mouse over the container. A little something that no one tells you~!

I'm afraid I still haven't been able to do it:

What I'm currently doing:
I'm standing next to the cupboard, and I have it opened. It contains some chantrelles, and I have several more in my inventory. I left-click a chantrelle in my inventory, and shift-scroll the mousewheel over the container screen.

I've done pretty much all variants I can think of: clicking the mousewheel, doing it over the cupboard sprite, trying to do it in reverse (cupboard to inventory), but it all just does nothing


On a related note, when I CONTROL+Right-click a cupboard, it starts glowing green. Is this related to this, or some other behaviour?

The green thing is unrelated, I think it's just to highlight things for whatever purpose you might need to do that for.
