Thanks. I did finally find the inventory (the "How-To" link guide sent me to equipment). Still haven't figured out how to get the clothes on, though...

left icon - Inventory
next icon - Equipment

have both open - you can now hold stuff in inventory with mouse and drag over to the equipment screen - release and it should be on Char
can take a while cuz lag ;)

or try to double click on shirt, throusers when both screens open...

just experiment a bit - best way to learn :D

Thanks, dragging worked (but double clicking did nothing). Just took me a ridiculous amt of time to figure out the shoes needed to go at the bottom lol.

Click once on the item you want to put on, and the item should go into the cursor, then click again in the centre of the equipment screen, and if the slot is free the item will equip.

If you're not sure what slot something will go on, but best way to find out is to strip naked, then put it on.

OK, another question ;)

Postby Jekyltoo » Mon Aug 20, 2012 7:57 pm

I have now died twice due to boars. I am also spending a ridiculous amt of time walking around looking for food. I am in a coniferous forest and so far all my traveling has only uncovered more forest, a river with [apparently] no fishing spots, and lots of rock. Should I start over again? (i.e. are there easier ways to play this game) and if so, is there any way to determine where I will spawn? The new player intros suggest that there is a way to appear in a city, but as far as I could tell the only exit from the opening screen is via the ladder which brought me to this barren place.

Thanks for the advice.

Watch less videos they might be outdated - better study the RoB wiki

1. Try to get Ender running - (depends on your OS version if it does work) - should be some threads about Ender on Mac OSX in forum
viewtopic.php?f=27&t=23732
viewtopic.php?f=27&t=22801
viewtopic.php?f=2&t=17182&p=198241&hilit=macintosh#p198241

with Ender you can get Animals marked by a big circle around it - also you can have Fullscreen and the world gets larger suddenly ;)

for Java DL: viewtopic.php?f=2&t=28086

2. The amount of foragable food depends on your Perception ( gain through food), Exploration (LP) - the more you have the more you see
so push Expl to see more foods

3. hunt rabbits and chicken to butcher for food - get your Surv up to 10 to get best FEP from roasted meat

Spawning:

image uploaded by Apocalypse Please - TY

Spawning with a new char going up the ladder is at random location

Spawning with an inherited char going up the ladder spawns next to anchestors exHF

Having a hearth secret of a friend giving it to the guy "password" in topleft corner opens a stairway leading to the friends HF

(In older worlds there had been also the possibility to use a trapdoor "charter" for a spawn at a charterstone but those aren't ingame anymore)

-------------------------------
You have different opinions: try harder with char, (maybe find a trustable vet player that will spawn with Alt at your HF and "nurse" you a bit) - make a new char spawn random, check wether the area suits you better - or ask in the D&T subforum for a place with someone or in a village

but most of all test if Ender works on your OS!

Personal claim question:

If you possess all the dark skills, can you break a claim stick on another persons claim?
If the answer is yes, how much strength would it take?
Obviously i have access to the claim.

no you can't break it - you only can make a village touching the personal claim and declaim the p claim with enough Authority by LS
http://ringofbrodgar.com/wiki/Lawspeaking
Revoke the Privilege! = Disbands a personal claim (within the village in question and lawspeaker must be standing on the personal claim when attempting to disband) by spending Village Authority.
