If it can't path to you and you're doing too much damage per hit (more than ~60 damage per hit) then it will still run away.

I've had a beehive up for a week or so and although I can get honey at a consistent pace I've never been able to harvest beeswax. Why is this?

Thanks in advance. :D
It is nice to rest your weary bones from time to time. It is nice to lay down your burdens. It is nice to have a seat.

How big is the active playerbase? I realize this is an open-ended question, but I mean in terms more meaningful than the little counter on the site can provide: how many people are there consistently doing more than logging on as new players, wandering around the site, and dying?

I play fairly consistently, and in my various wanderings, I keep seeing abandoned houses, but never any other players. It's almost post-apocalyptic, not to mention good for my guy's safety, and I'm curious how long I might expect this to last.

Even with a heavily active player base of 1,300 or so it was rare to see more than a handful of people on at the same time if they weren't in the same village as you. The world is huge (even though there have been even bigger worlds.) In addition to that, many players play at different times, move, raid, or are just negligent of their belongings. I've raided farms before for free loot because their walls had decayed only to learn that they were active and just never checked their walls. Their own fault but I still happily gave them their goods back.

On average we're seeing maybe 300 players on in a day, which is substantially less than normal. This is for any number of reasons but I blame the lagg that many players have been feeling. This means you have about 2,000 local maps worth of area with 300 active players spread across all of it. Most players aren't online for more than an hour or two so you have a small window to catch them online. Finding other people can be tough~!

Ah, thank you very much; I can be less paranoid about people finding and destroying my palisade, then, while I figure out how to (metaphorically) turn wheat into steel.

No you can't.

Even thought there is a small playerbase, there are still raids. Most people now can destroy a palisade in a minute or two, so you should still check your walls on an alt before you log in, and store any valubles you have on another alt.

Man, that level of paranoia is just plain unfun. It's better to just die and lose everything than to be forced into those habits.

You need a brickwall and fast.

Paranoia here is equal to health, can be not fun as Teck said, but it sure is much more confortable to log off with some level of peace of mind.

BW just enlarges Paranoia for some more tiles ;)

for me it's a steady switching between Paranioa and the "have fun - LMA i don't care if i loose all" state of mind everytime i log off
