You need 2 tiles paved and clear between two cornerposts and one of the cornerposts must not be sealed. Right click on the cornerpost and it'll give you option to build a gate between the two cornerposts.

A gate is built when two cornerposts are at a distance from each other with 2 empty tiles in between. When this is the case, you'll get the option 'build gate to east/north/west/south'.

You need 2 tiles paved and clear between two corners and one of the corners must not be sealed. Right click on the corner and it'll give you option to build a gate between the two corners.

You don't need to build wall sections between the cornerposts in order to build a gate.

Now you gotta destroy the two wall sections between the cornerposts.

Edit: If you plan to do it, don't seal the cornerposts.

You shouldve just built your wall all around your place and let the two ending cornerposts stand next to each other with 2 tiles in between.
