Are hide straps softcapped by anything or are they equal to the quality of the hide?

So when I die, I have to start a new character and get some of the skill points from my previous (now dead) character?

You *can* if you want.

(I know this fresh, thanks to an encounter with a really grumpy bear a couple of hours ago -_-)

Basically, when a character dies, you can't play it any more and it gets deleted. Then when you start a new character (assuming you do, and don't ragequit), you go through the normal character creation process. But in addition, there's a runestone to the south of the guy where you choose your gender, and if you right-click on it, you can choose to inherit the stuff (claim, part of the life points, a portion of attributes increased, etc) from your previous character. If you do that, then when you climb the ladder, it takes you to your previous character's hearth fire (I assume, I popped up in my claim, which had my old hearth fire there), instead of plopping you down randomly somewhere in the wilderness.

I'm not sure what happens if you have two characters that die before you decide to inherit from one, if you can choose only to inherit from the more recent, or the more powerful, or if you can choose either, or what. I forgot to click on the runestone to inherit, so I just started a second new character and could get the inheritance that way, so I now have an alt that I'm not currently using. :p

They seem to be equal to the quality of the hide. Haven't tested them this world though but presumably they are the same.

1 runestone per dead character, and you can only inherit from 1. also if you haven't advanced too much probably best not to inherit and just start fresh(so you can get discovery lp again) since you only get back a small amount of lp(based on change tradition slider)

I know living ones catch fish quickly but are consumed and that some lures catch different fish (eels are a good example). But does a better lure act faster (example Copperbrush Snapper v Woodfish) or maybe give higher quality?

Also does the lure (and string/rod/hook) affect the quality of the fish caught?
type of lure + type of water(lake/river, deep shallow) determine teh type of fish you get and fishing gear quality softcaps your fish...but with survival hardcapping fish this probably isn't going to be a problem for newer players for a few days.

Extract all the files into the Ender's folder into a folder called custom_res
If it doesn't exist make it.
