Well, not completely inside one, branch off or a have a corner with a well in it by going into a different terrain.

Later in the game, when nobody used 10q water thickets are good since they have no cliffs

The big problem with thickets is that it is a very difficult to develop things inside of it, consuming a lot of time due to the large stamina drain from plowing as well as the stamina drain from traversing. I assume that your reason for a thicket is for anonymity so that means you have to also find a fairly deep one as well. On the other hand, people usually avoid them for the same reason of being an inconvenience and it is also a pain to assault a thicketed brick wall as well (not nearly as bad as a vault, but what isn't?).

on claims houses don't decay... (but building on mudflats is somewhat )

The clover allows you to milk the auroch, it doesn't make it friendly with you so that you can pull hair. There is always a risk pulling hair.
