Yes they can. I had a fence right next to a pali last world and they still gave birth through both and ended up between my pali and brick wall. There must be some radius or space allotment code and new calf will appear where it can. So if your cows love to group together it may get displaced nearby.

use cellar stones...not sure why, but for some reason they don't give birth outside cellar stones(or maybe its just my luck)

also you have a gate on your fence, cows always try to escape when you open a gate(atleast mines always have) leaving a 1 tile openning in a fence and placing a chair there allows you to get in and out without your cows making a run for it.

Feed your cows, plant grass.
People are capable of kindness angels can only dream of, yet can commit sins that put demons to shame.

Planting a very big area of grass outside your camp increases the likelyness that you will see tamable animals such as aurochsen and mouflons. Also, navigation is easier on grassland if you're not into paving big bases because you can run with very, very little stamina drain.

ah so the normal ground cover is NOT grass right? if so sounds like I'll be doing grass with all the q1 seeds I'm getting (just starting and highest seed is q5). also simple basic question. what the Bleep can i do about higher level players trespassing and murdering me? they literally came INSIDE a claimed area and murdered me!

Build a palisade. It takes a very, very strong player to destroy a palisade by hand which takes quite the time. In that time you probably get to alt vault some of your goodies and log off.
Even new characters can enter claimed areas, all you can do is run and protect yourself with walls.

The most usual ground cover where you can't sprint is forest land.

so yeomanry is 100% totally useless. I build fence. somebody just opens door and then enters and murders me. there is NO way to play when a HIGH level player how 6 shots me and murders me. guess for me why the FUCK should I play?
