Alright, guys... maybe I'm a shitty searcher, but I can't find a source on cave-in stuff for W7. As far as I can tell from my mining, the old snake pattern doesn't work, since I'm getting cave-ins two-tiles out from cave tiles. I can also cause a cave-in with a cave's wall, if it's close to a boulder from a previous one. The last one I (just) had was when I was mining a cave wall about ten tiles away from the closest boulder (to lay a support down no less ). So now I'm down to 2 HHP... not even enough to use leeches (going to have to find some Mouflon and a clover, I guess). I'm lucky I'm alive, not going to mine outside a support radius again.
I suppose my question is, is it possible to get a cave-in while mining inside the radius of a support? Even if there are boulders from previous cave-ins inside that radius? And am I able to mine the full square inside of that radius without causing one, or should I lay down multiple for some sort of added security? This is pretty much my first time mining... sorry if these have been answered, W7 seems different from what I've read.

Snake mining was never intended to be a 100% safe way to mine. You just gotta suck it up till you get metal for supports. If your miners die so be it. (Use alts.)

I'll be making some hardened leather soon, if I can manage to get it to come out over 20q I'll save it for travellers sacks, if under I'll stockpile for a minehole, but I'll record my qualities used and post the results here.

Am I reading this right and Straw Hat gives 5 farming q10-39 and 10 farming at q40? 15 would require quality 90.

The quality multiplier is calculated as next:


so let's say you have a quality 40 straw hat, the multiplier would come out as 2.
5 x 2 = 10

so a q39 straw hat would almost give 10 farming too.

So...there is a boar that decided to come to live in the middle of my camp. And since it doesn't like my face or something, it keeps killing me over and over. I tried to lure it away, but it keeps coming back. Any way to solve this situation?

Don't log in for ~30 minutes. Those things tend to despawn, they are not around forever.
