I think jorb made it, so you can't put anything infront of doors and cave entrances.
Early world exploit: Put your hearthfire inside a cave, then hold shift to position a claim right in front of a cave. After 8 hours the claim will be unbreakable. Since your hearthfire is inside the cave, you can still get back inside, and leave, but nobody will be able to enter, effectively making you unraidable for the first 3-7 days. Enjoy

1. If I buy trespassing will I be able to dig on someone else's claim?

2. Is digging on someone else's claim a bad crime? Will I be summoned or killed?

3. When looking for higher Q stone I know it can be found in mountains but how many tiles should I move before digging again to attempt to locate the higher Q?

(I'm trying to break into mining so I've wanted a higher Q stone axe but the only mountains I've found have a giant claim on them that almost encompasses the entire mountain range)

Do wells appear naturally in thicket? I'm leaning towards no since I've been dowsing around a huge thicket area looking for a source of water and have yet to find anything, but I thought I'd check and see if anyone knew for sure.

Thanks for the replies. I have a few follow up questions as well.

4. I'm mining in a cave blind with out having done any prospecting. If I'm getting ore and not stone from a tile does that mean that there is a vein there or am I wasting my time?

5. Currently I'm using roasted pike to level my alt/miner's STR but it seems like it's leveling his INT and CON more then STR. Is there a better food he should be eating or am I just getting unlucky? (keep in mind I don't have access to sausage's yet)

6. Is the 1st underground level (i.e. the caves) lined up with the surface? If I find a vein using prospecting on the surface near my cave can I then count the tiles to the cave entrance and then count the tiles in the cave to locate the vein?

4) You're currently in an ore vein, continue to mine the area for more ore.

5) Boar and Bear meat are great early on. Once you have a meat grinder eat sausages instead.

6) I'm actually unsure about that, someone else will have to help you. =)

Yes they are somewhat aligned. Keep in mind there is a no dig zone around cave entrances. If you mine doen with a minehole try to allow some space for the minehole between the node so it does not occupy ore space.

Later on when you can create a cheese manufacturing factory, Blue Brodgar Cheese and Midnight Blue Cheese are going to be one of the best source of strength, especially considering that they don't give any other. Cave cheddar may work as well when you start getting to the point that BBC is at the point where it doesn't quite fill the FEP meter even with some fodder food/wine for variance bonus though this requires you to secure a mine.

And prospecting takes account of ores one level below your current location. This also applies to 1->2 2->3 3->4 4->5 if you have sufficient strength.
