I think I've seen this issue before when fishing from a shore when the fish are in the deeper water. Try fishing from a boat or getting as close as you can to try to reach them.

Is Q49 ball clay worth anything (in terms of trade)? I assume it's fairly low-average but I'd like to check as I haven't seen any posts in A&O with prices for it.

Yes, that's probably what he meant. Building a kiln with it, treeplanter's pot and clay cauldron. You're likely to use them for some time at that QL.

For a beginner town, almost q50 is a sizeable beginning before you start amassing trade goods to try and trade for a q60-70 set of clay. It also allows you to continually update planter pots and make good quality ovens at a relatively small expense to yourself.

All in all it'll tide you over nicely until you can start making contacts to buy better. If you ever do, depends what you're playing the game for I suppose.

depends on the type of terrain you plant it on. if you plant it on broadleaf forest(its native terrain) should be a few days, if not then it will take a couple weeks...

About two weeks of irl time on non-native soil. Sometimes it grows for a week, sometimes even up to two weeks, you really just need to be lucky for that very last stage
